Hey guys!

Midlands based 300zxTT owner here, just wondering if any of you guys know any good garages in the area that do 300zx work?

I'm looking at getting the clutch/cambelt/alternator belt done, and I know pretty much just about ZedWorld, who have quoted about a grand.

Anyone know of any other places?

Cheers!

You really cannot get any better than ZedWorld mate, absoloute experts, I'm sure i will be the first of many to say this...

As far as it goes mate they're the only people i'd leave my zed in capable hands with. There are probably others but the last one i took mine to without mentioning names ripped me off royally and i never took my zed to another garage after that and did it all myself.

Once my dad's (my old one) is back on the road i've recommended he take it to zedworld and jeff and the boys sort out all the niggly bits. If i'd ended up buying the black TT i would have taken it to them to have the turbos fitted too.

Well, I happen to live right next to severn valley motorsport (used to be called that) has anyone had any experience with them and Z's? :)

ZedWorld mate, heard loads of good stuff about them. I will be taking mine to them in the near future.:thumbup1:

If it's price putting you off, do the clutch yourself - fairly straightforward if you've got a decent set of tools; obvious thing you may not have is extensions to reach some of the bellhousing bolts.

As for taking it to a non-specialist, wouldn't bother for something so important as the cambelt!

and again Zedworld mate, Jeff the owner will NOT rip you off and the service is second to none.

Agreed gets my vote aswell!!!

Zedworld. £1k sounds about right. Clutch is a few hundred, 60k kit is a few hundred and its a fair amount of labour.

Mate you'd be nuts going anywhere else.

Many many Zedders travel for hours and even from Europe to have their cars done there.

It's the only garage i know off that do JUST Zeds and nowt else, think Jeff does a couple hundred cambelts a year and often repairs or re does the jobs other garages have done.

Finally he often supplies you with pics of the job as it progresses and a detailed invoice for your records.

For the jobs you listed, pretty good price!

Oh and yes I travel all the way there from the Isle of Man :-)

check prices on standard clutch versus uprated one as well may work out cheaper as i know Nissan are never cheap. Only a handful of people id let work on my zeds Zedworld and me to name a couple :)

you get what you pay for mate - Zedworld is just around the corner from you, and you will get great service. Every time i have been there they have also taken me through what they have done so i got a bit of an education as well.

and i think that anywhere you go will still cost you near a grand anyway...

I'm not going to read anymore posts, I'm just going to quote this one......

.....because I agree! I drive over 100 miles each way to take my ZX to Jeff. Sometimes I have to leave it there for a day or two and suffer the train home. But it's worth it for the service and expertise Zedworld provides.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

sent my car on a trailor to zedworld back in september, thats right. all the way from bouremouth right up there to the north lol. id alreday had a local "specialist" fart about it and throw soem horror scenarios at me, and charge me £90 for the privailge. withiin 20 mnutes or so of them working on it the major issue was identified and rectified. seriously helpfull people and very good value. cannot recommed zedworld enough. and if you think about ringing a "japanese specilist" called nippon auto spares, give yourself a slap from me. worst thing i ever did to my zed.

Just out of interest what did you pay for your car?

Paid about 5k mate.

So, my clutch is too far gone to get to zedworld from Telford. Anyone have any transporters they'd recommend in that area that don't charge a bomb?

Did you get a price from Zedworld for this? they have a small company who pick up cars for them all over the UK mate.

Also just a question

Is it unusual for a stock 300zx TT clutch to go at 50,000 miles?

Also just a question

Too many unknown factors to consider, such as pevious owner/ driver abuse, engine performance upgrades, even bad servicing, and age.

When we remove it we will have a better idea and can let you know whats happened.
