PCV Bypass

Are there any cons of bypassing the PCV other than the emissions side of things? Not replacing something that put's crap recycled air into my intake if theres no need too!

Nah PCV that's why im asking if they are needed for any other reason apart from emissions.

Someone who has already done so :

According to this it's just the same idea as most older engines and apart from the need to reduce the emissions I see no other use for it. So I was thinking of bypassing and fitting an oil catch can instead.

ive been running without PCV's for quite a while now with no problems. always thought putting dirty spent oily gasses through the intake was a crap idea but, you must vent the crank case through a catch tank or similar

no worries,

just to add. the first link is actually a PCV breather relocation, it still uses the PCV valves

the second link is showing you how to change the valves

neither delete or bypass them.

but as i said, you csan delete them all together ;)

How did you go about it SB? Was thinking of using the old PCV valves but getting rid of the valves out the centres then redirecting the the resultant piping elsewhere.

it's quite straight forward, i removed both valves, replaced them with tapered grub screws, then linked the two front intake rocker breathers together, blocked the rear breather on the passanger exhaust rocker and fed the side breather on the same rocker to a catch tank along with the linked front breathers.

what i will say though, and what i am going to change is the exhaust breathers, i would suggest putting the breathers in the same place as the first link (orange rockers) just to stop the catch tank filling with oil when cornering
