Hi Guy's and Girls, Could anyone tell how to remove the reflector element from the the rear light please? I have removed what appears to be the retaining screw but the thing won't budge.:censored:

Hi Jaikai, I'm referring to the indicator/break light lens. does this mien i will have to use some sort of heat to remove? or is it as car.mad suggests, glued permanent? by the way, thanks for taking the time to help.

Hi gruntpa64, I am in the process of polishing the standard lens covers. and as the lettering on the reflector insert is raised i thought it would be easier to remove it. also if the polishing works as well as i hope. i would like to replace the reflectors with a new ones.

Hi,

no you can't (as far as I know remove the reflector), I've done a few of these light and never even attempted to remove it (as above) factory glued in place, the screw holds the whole face on not the reflector....

the reflector covers the screw log on the lens...

you could try sanding the raised lettering off and then polishing it....

If you really think it's possible, I'd try and find the replacement part form Nissan first before damaging the existing one..... but good luck with that....

i can't see a part number for it on the catalog....

I think some clarification is in order, are you on about the little reflector that sits in the brake light area, or are you on about the colored plastic that covers the break light (red) or the indicator (orange 89spec / White 99spec) if you are on about the little oval reflector, then you are going to damage the clear outer getting it out as its stuck in good. if you are on about the inserts, then they are glued in with the same black crap that keeps the outer clear plastic on the lights and will come off with a little heat applied.

sorry about the confusion vodkashots, i see where you were coming from, It is as car mad says though, the small inset reflector.

Medallion man, Thanks for the advice, I like the idea of polishing in situ and flatting off the lettering, might be a good look. (by the way, thanks for the link reference (nissan4u) i shall do some browsing)
