There seems to be more young drivers than ever driving cars like the 300zx, i always thought the under 25 catagory was still in effect. Scary really cos most young drivers are %!$$$%.

i was 23 when i got mine, but Flux took into account all the cars i have had previous.

But 95% said i had to be over 25

24 pay a fairly reasonable amount and tbh yeh generally young drivers are nobs but it seems to be the slower the car teh faster they wanna drive it. the zed is probally teh calmest ive driven a car. nothing to prove. what is scarey is the amount of pensioners that arnt safe to drive still driving. not saying all arnt safe but theres too many that arnt safe to drive. and also the people i find taht are the worst drivers are generally middle aged women on the school run

im 21 had a Zed since i was 19, my insurance isn't that bad i paid more for a ford escort:tt2: its a TT import too..

im not a nob... well atleast i dont think so..:innocent:, until it broke down i babied my Z,

Honestly i really do take offence to your post and it looks like you are only posting it to piss alot of people off, let me think, you are about 40 in a mid-life crysis and own a zed?

Insurance is a law of its own at times, my 1993 Jap Import Celica GT (not even a GT-Four) is the same price as my TT Import Zed but then a Honda S2000 (UK) is £1000 more expensive. I'm 22 btw and was 21 when I started the policy so I've no idea how they work out insurance these days :/

my gf is 20 witha 1.1 taht takes a week to get to 60 and is safe as houses and pays twice as much insurance as me with no convictions claims or anything how is that fair? i think my insurance is pretty reasonable for what im driving comapred to most people my age. as already said i think your probally more likly to crash into another car ora tree in a 1.1 saxo than a zed. the mere fact that us young guns have gone for teh zed over other cars is a pretty good statement for itself at least it shows some taste.

At least us young guys have good reaction times.... ;)

Besides, age has so little to do with it. I do think that insurance should take into account driving experience. I.e vehicles previously had (I know some do) and also the milage that people drive. Ironically, people who drive less (and so you could easily argue have less experience) pay less than people who drive more miles. I do 40-45k a year these days, and have driven something like 220k in the 6 years since I passed. I have friends who have been driving for longer yet havnt driven even 50k . Its reasonable to assume that I have encounetered more situations and ergo have more expeience than someone who has driven a fraction of the distance.

Same as do you do, im a remote engineer, i drive for a living covering all of the south west, i do my fair share of mileage as well. Ive clocked up about 50K in the last 2 years.

you cant really calim no offence was meant by it when you open with that. its not necessarly what you say its how you say it. if you had said i dont understand etc i thought taht staistically.... your being factual, you were just being rude. and its a valid point my future mother in law never drives ut of her small town, but has been driving along time. i drive as part of my profession and clock up a fair few miles motorway and urban and have drive over most of teh uk over the last 6-7 years. even she would tell you im a more experienced driver. young people insurance is stupid as it is. and if it was the other way round there would be uproar. young people are delt apretty crumby hand most of the time finaically and judgmentally and thers nothing we can do about it cos apranntly we dont know any better. i accept your appolgy but as murt said be carefull how you word things it can come across rude esp when worded so exactly.

i think its the age of the car is the main thing - its cheaper for a Zed than an MX5 for me. amazed i can get insured on it at 23 with 2years ncb, but then it seems im not the only one!

Guys i've cleaned up this thread, can you keep your language clean !

B4VEN300 - can you please refrain from verbal abuse to other members.

Well said that man.

Personally i think the language was targeted directly at members and these forums are here to

help each other out; not to single out members !

I'm giving the benifit of the doubt this time as text can be misinterpreted by

the way you originally ment it.

we'll keep this thread open for now; but it will close if the arguments and manner

of language in its content continues !

the 300Zx is so rare you have to be a bit of an enthusiast to end up with one, so you likely to know what its capable of and want to look after it,

well that's my opinion anyway...

i don't know anyone who drives a Zed like a K**b... well maybe i havn't met many of you yet..:tongue_smilie:

it is ok if i use *astrix* instead?

Hopefully most zedders have them to look after and respect them !

- and they are well cool !! :cool2:

There is a select few who just want to drift them; like my younger brother,

who's been trying to buy my old NA to do exactly that; i've resisted so far

as i cant let myself see it being trashed in that way !

and *astrix* is fine !!

lol

The whole "under-25" catagory statement. I assume by this that your meaning that most insurance companies wont insure people under 25 on these cars. Well, speaking from experience (I got my first of 4 zeds when i was 20) ive never had any problems getting insured.

Surely another look at it is, if someone's willing to spend a fortune to insure a car, they're gonna take care of it and not be a "nobhead"???

Im glad im not the only one who sees it that way!

I agree with Shrek, Quavey, Murt and anyone else I've forgotten about that disagrees with the thread starter. At 19 years old I'm probably the youngest driver on this forum? But in the two and a bit years I have been driving I'd say I've covered around 60k miles in various cars including a zed (albeit for less than 100 miles) 200sx (even less) 4 metre vans and a corsa 2 litre. I drive for a living and a hobby giving me more experience than my sister who's been driving for 9 years. Anyone can drive beyond their limit. People that drove like idiots when they were younger will often continue to drive like idiots all the way through their life until the inevitable happens. I take pride in my driving and the cars I drive - something a lot of people dont! :)

exactly, i meen my Zeds insurance is only just less then i paid for the Zed, and i know if i drive it like an idiot and crash it the insurance will go too high for me to afford, let alone the fact the Zed would get damaged...

although one thing i do disagree with about insurance companies is that your blamed if you cars stolen, my old Zed was stolen back in january (never recoverd or even seen again..:crying:) and the insurance company put my premiums up so much... i don't think that's fair either, particularly as i made every effort to prevent it, ie cat 1 alarm, parked outside my house, everyone knew it was mine... and it was on 3 wheels....

sorry slightly off topic but still

+1 to the young drivers, im 20 i pay extortionate ammounts just to own my TT import, i have covered 1.4k miles in the 5 months ive had it and it greaves me to push her when its not warmed up properly and i do what i can to ensure its safe and well serviced, im not really a fan of being Tarred with this brush...but hey i bought this car because i can and im prepared to pay for it, Noones going to remove this privilage from me :)

you dont need to be over 25, when i was 20 i had a supra turbo as well as a 190 cossie.

if your a nobhead, your a nobhead. if u aint u aint. there is no magical age u wud become 'not' a nobhead. i.e 25. many drivers cud b considered nobheads whether 18 or 28, either side of 25. nobheads and age has no positive correlation (i dont think, dont as me for me research lol).

i had a n/a when i was 20 then when i was 22 i got a tt imported, im now 23. I managed to get myself first insured on the n/a due to a mistake by the insurance company, but wen i got the tt i was told that i was not allowed to be first driver !!! , so i put my dads name first and me second, saved a lot of money but still too damn expensive. By the time i got the tt i had already been driving for 3 years and had two previous cars inc. the n/a and a clean record, and still the insurance companies are assholes.

If i was a millionaire id set up an insurance company just for zeds and with low rates.
