snow chains in pompey . you shouldnt really need them in a 4x4.

Its a chelsea tractor, i bet it couldnt get over a mole hill let alone snow :lol:

As for chains like said above they ware they will screw your tyres up pritty quick.

get some snow tyres fitted and swap them back in summer, then when winter kicks in swap them back again. then you know its nice and safe for the mrs and the tyres will last forever lol!!!

buy a £500 shogun just for the snow then sell it in march for the same money you bought...simples:winkiss:

LOL it was snow socks she wanted she is a horsey type lol

:rofl: well buy them aswell...it will save the chains chaffing the horses legs:rofl:

just get her to ride the horse there even more 4x4 than a landy

yea but the sat-nav suckers dont stick to there heads too well:devil2:

That's what I was thinking too - I personally would not bother Martin!

Just get some decent tyres on - Vredstein (spelling?) does a new all season SUV tyre which can handle the snow as well as the summer motor-way runs; with no need to swap over as the seasons change.

Pretty much any 4x4 SUV can handle the sort of snow conditions we get throughout the UK; so unless you're planning on getting up close and personal with an Icelandic volcano, it's not worth it!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

A 4x4 in snow is just great, just take it steady and you should be able to get everywhere. just remember that braking is the same as a car and will slide dramatically if going too fast. The grip is mainly beneficial when driving not stopping.

As has been said snow chains not much good for this country. One year I tried tyres with screw in studs on my Disco, only to be pulled over by the law, as they were illegal on UK roads. They tend to shred the tarmac. Best option is to buy a set of cheap winter wheels from the back pages of a 4x4 mag.
