And I can confirm that the machinemart kit does have the right sizes!

Either kit is great as there seems to be an O ring for just about every application I've needed one on the zed (including the CAS)

Cheers guys,

Ordered a kit but it hasn't arrived yet !

But looks like its more bad news for my zed as ive got a stripped bolt hole on the

right side of the ballance bar; its the front of the three screws that holds down the

balance bar to the plennum, whats best to do get it re tapped with a new thread

or get it helicoiled ?

I've cheated for now and put some gasket sealer round the area for now just so i

can drive it to the garage and back along with some tape wrapped arround the

bolt to make it thicker and it's holding safely for now.

Whats your thoughts, this happened to anybody else ?

mine was stripped when i got the car, I found a slightly larger bolt with the same pitch thread, and very gently got it quite tight, but helicoiling the best way, not sure it could be done with the plenum in situ, perhaps some places would tho...

it needs to be drilled and tapped to the helicoil size and the the helicoil inserted. You would need to buy the correct taps and drill. it could be done in situ. But its getting the swarf and the tapping fluid out of the inside of the plenum thats the important bit. Dont want any of that getting in the internals.

i got a cylinder head spark plug hole helicoiled a bit back (after the plug blew out of it's hole, went straight through the carbaerretor and stuck in my garage roof!) and it was only 14 quid, but the head was taken off the car to do it....

iirc the hole (currently, may have to if drilling it, i wouldn't tho) doesn't go all the way through to the inner chamber, so no burr would fall through...

I would re-tap it to the next size up (can't remember what size it is) As it's alloy you'll tap it out easily enough. You wouldn't need to remove the plenum for this, just cover the balance bar holes with masking tape to stop any swarf going in.

I would tap it and put a stud in, once that's done its less stress when taking off and putting back on because the stud does not move
