Anyone on here ever done one of these to there z? if so did they notice any lack in power throttle response etc?

only reason im asking is i did a 230mile trip in the 350z on just under 40 quid of tesco 99 th other day, a good few times havin the car booted up to over 100mph ( most of the trip was motorway cruise control tho )

now im back in the 300zx tt and the car died on fuel on the way to the petrol station so i filled up £40 in it and got just under a half tank...

iv now done 40 miles and its just under a quarter tank ( only 2 miles if that have been full throttle ) all driving bar the full throttle has been around town in drive mode on A/T with overdrive on,.. any advice on fuel save with these ?

i luv this car but iv had a 5.5 litre supercharged merc and it wasnt that heavy on fuel

You need to get it on the conzolt and check the o2 sensors, this may help your mpg if the o2 sensors have failed your consumption will be higher

yeah, the mpg is not great, but shouldn't be that bad. Is it running in safety mode? as apparently they will run really rich when doing so?

It goes without saying that a zed will be bad on fuel, but there seems to be a few of these kind of threads going up.

i knew from the word go it wouldnt be good on fuel but the 350z is a bigger engine and done a hell of a lot of miles at higher speeds... i done 50 miles with that 40 quid only booting it a couple of times and ran out this afternoon.. not on

02 sensors and safety mode how do i check this? without this conzult thing

If in Safety mode the boost will not go up further than 3 quarters on the guage no matter how hard you put your pedal down. If the o2 sensors are faulty, it would probebly kick into safety mode, and there would be more of a fuel smell i reckon? ( I stand to be corrected by those with more knowledge than i)

Also as an aside, when driving to scotland in convoy behind my girlfriends parents doing 55 - 65mph i got better fuel consumption figures when driving back at 70 - 90mph??

Someone told me it is beacause the engine are more geared to higher speeds than lower speeds?

Likewise the 350 has a bigger engine, but was manufactured in a a more recent time when fuel consumption figures are much more important than 20 years ago when the zed was made....

however i have reset my ecu and no change on the turbo pressure... im guessing it should go up to +7?? how do i stop this safety mode just unplug my 02 sensors?

The only way you will know if the O2 sensors are faulty is by putting the car on a conzolt, by unpluging them all you do is create the same fault as a failed sensor. When they fail the ecu works out a defalt and more than likley that is why your car smells rich.

The safty boost problem is more than likely to be a det sensor fault, this can be diagnosed by doing a manual ECU check if you get code 34 thats det sensor problems. The det sensor ecu fault can be rectified by inserting a 1meg ohm resistor across the sensor plug conections. you need to do search for these problems as there are plenty of write ups concerning these faults and solutions.

Hope this helps

It looks like the question won't get answered because instead of making room in the back for a gas tank the zeds have been filled up with super amps, subs, and targa bags LOL

lol right ...

there is nothing wrong with making the car in to LPG .. you will just fine the answer isnt there because it hasn't been done on this car

to how the LPG works it can be better tha petrol as its got a high Ron/burning temp and can help in high HP cars to stop Det and other things

a friend of mine wanted to do it to my car if i didnt have the Big ICE install ... i would of by now :)

U can check o2 sensors with the screw on the ecu, do the fault check then turn screw the either way and hold revs to 2000rpm engine has to be up to temp and light should flash on/off on/off showing it change rich/lean,

Then if u turn screw the other way do the same thing has above it will do the other 02.

I have not done it the manual way for a while, so may be things I missed or done slightly different sure someone will come along if I have said it the wrong way and tell u how to do it properly lol.

Goodluck with solving problem.

I seriously looked into this, but it really wouldn't be cost effective. I spoke to mickey bean about it as he used to do the conversion. And he talked a lot of Sence about problems and that u you would probably blow the head before you made your money back. You would also need to uprate the cooling and have to get another euc for the lpg that would need a pro remap. Just wouldn't be worth the hassle.
