My zed isn't the best zed in the world.

I wanted to sell it to buy a nicer one, but got that many time wasters i decided to keep it.

There is 1 Zed for sale at the moment i really want. I dont know if its best to spend loads on my car, or just buy this other one.

I'd try 1 last time to sell mine as a car, but if that doesn't work, is it worth breaking, or only break a car that is damged/blown up etc???

My car doesn't have any problems, just need a good tidy up...

only you can answer that one mate. you say its not the best? but its mechanically sound? sounds liek agood start to me. decide what youd want to do and how much it would cost you and weigh it up i guess

Jim now your a subscribed member, put a journal up, list everything that is wrong with your car (or send it too me in a PM) and ill let you know if its worth while breaking it, or repairing matey.

Ditto. My breaker was well worthwhile. PM me for details.

Cheers fellas.

I'd decided that i'd keep it thinking the other one i had my eye on would probably need the same amount of work.

Now ive slept on it, keeping mine seems the better option - Im just being lazy!

I'll get a link to the one i liked. Its nothing special, i just liked it.

gotta love it when someone lists the mods and then says its kicking out around 400BHP, even with the mods i have on mine, which is a little bit more than that. and the fact i have boost jets giving me 14PSI (shows 16 on the boost gauge though) I'm still only reaching about 370, probably less due to age.

BHP goes down with age not up. and I've never known a car to keeps its original out of the factory BHP figures.

Its nice but if they are willing to lie about the power gain from the mods listed. what else are they going to "forget" to put in the add?

Stick with the one you have matey. it might be a bit tatty around the edges (so is mine) but everything on these cars can be fixed, from the engine to the gear box to the body work as long as its not been in a very serious crash or anything.

If yours is up and running with no major issues, where is the point in getting rid, just to get a Unknown that could potentially end up worse off? there is definitely more to the saying "better the devil you know"

Have to agree with vodkaplops,

Your car might not be perfect, but at least you know it inside out. If it needs tarting up then try that first. If you make the body work good you should be able to reclaim some of the money you spent, when you come to sell. If you intend to keep it indefinitely then it might be better to cut your losses. But you would need to throw in a fair wedge of cash (along with the value of your motor) to get a significantly cleaner car. 5 grand seems to be the going rate for a decent car, from what i can see.

As Gary said - be wary of Ebay motors unless you can check em out in the flesh first. Anyone who spends that kinda money without seeing the goods first wants :gun_bandana:

This is what i think of my car. This is part of my for sale ad....

Its got 100k on the clock. Its been in the uk since 2002, so most of the mileage will be in KMS, but i dont know how many.

Its got mot until April 2011, the the tax expired 08/2010.

It has a good engine, no rattles or anything. Only thing is, it has a little bit of smoke when you let of the power. Cant see it when driving, but when stopped you can. Im told this is down to the PCV valves leaking, and i have bought a set with the hoses from a fellow member on here as i planned to keep it!

Gearbox is nice and smooth, fast or slow changes are both good.

Clutch may be starting to slip. Its not slipping, but sometimes feels as if it wants to. I planned a new clutch anyway when i boosted the power.

Bodywork is nice and straight. The colour looks a little different on different panles, but ive seen other like that so im not sure if its been painted or not (doors and front bumper). Tailgate is missing its spoiler (although i may have soured one through this forum). I planned a bigger spoiler and sideskirts, and then i thought about getting the whole car painted.

Interior is tatty. Black leather. Seats have wear (rears are ok) and the tweed around the dash needs a good clean. No stereo.

It has a cat back exhuast, with a slight blow from where the middle meets the front pipe. I bought decats so planned to fix that at the same time.

Its got a turbo timer where the interior clock should be.

Targe bags still in the boot!

Under the car has slight rust, not as bad as a W reg 200sx i had, but it is 20 years old now, so is to be expected.

It has standard wheels.

I had the car on ebay which finished last night, i decided if it didn't sell, i'd keep it. Ive now decided that i should have bought a mint one in the first place (i would have if i wasn't planning an engine swop). I had over 1000 veiws and 42 watchers. I put it up for £2000 then dropped it to £1800. I'd said that i'd sort the little problems out for the asking price.

Now i think i'll ask for less, but that wont include anything other than the car as it is! I could sort things out, but then the price will go up.

So the price... £1200 as it is. If it doesn't get this, i will break it.

I want a mint one, so its not right for me, it would suit somebody that wanted to drive it and enjoy it as it is.

Its near Birmingham - veiwing welcome, but please no timewasters, ive had enough of them!

I feel that i'd advertised it fairly, will all the defects i know about. Please dont expect a show car for this sort of money!

Cheers

There is nothing there that screams at me "i should sell this and get a better one", think of it as a canvas, most of what you posted is purely cosmetics that can be fixed, PCV valves are not that bad to change and are accessible. clutch isn't that bad to change either.

Tbh mate, id keep it if give it a new lease of life. these cars are almost classic sports cars and with being a classic, comes some restoration. you already said that you were wanting to fix a different spoiler. and then get it resprayed, that would give it a new lease of life already.

Seriously, read my journal for a car that needed a hell of a lot more work than yours. and i still wanted to get her back on the road. these cars are a labour of love. it just depends how far your willing to go to put the car back to how she should be.

Trust me, yours really isnt that bad. if i was in your shoes, id be keeping it and fixing the small amount of problems you have.

Its been going through my head all day. I really dont know what to do.

I put up a few for sale thread, and ive got people interested in parts.

Ive just taken some pictures. I'll upload them now..

dude, seriously, keep it, hardly anything needs doing to it. which isn't what most people can say about there's. If i owned your car, first thing id do is sort out the mechanical side of things. make sure its running sweet, then once that is done start on the cosmetic side of things. about 90% of these cars that haven't had a interior retrim are suffering the drivers side seat bolster ware. get a spoiler put on it, with out one it makes the car look bad as there is nothing to cover that whole where the rear brake light should be. also neatens up the rear no end. as for different color panels, get it a good respray it will breath new life into the old girl.

Get all the parts you need, bring her to me and ill fit them for you, if you can get her here, ill put the exhaust on, clutch if you can get that and rear spoiler, might be worth doing what I've done for now, getting the paint code of your car from the VIN plate under the hood and getting a can made up from halfords, (get it made up, don't buy the ones off the shelf, they come with a dot nozzle, and not a fan one, which is what you need for a smooth finish.

Ultimately, its down too you matey. but if i had a car like that, that didnt need that much work doing to it, id be fixing whats wrong, and then setting about sorting out the looks.

OK, simple question for you, what do you want out of your 300zx? higher BHP? body kit? bog standard? slightly modded? depending on what you want to do with it, would depend on if it would be worth keeping it or getting rid for another one.

Thats very nice of you to offer you help mate. Thats really good of you!

I want it to look like new! I know thats not going to be easy. Im not in to big body kits, but i would like a newer looking front bumper.

Power wise, i think around the 400 mark would do me.

I might just drive it as it is for a bit and see how i feel about it.

I'll get a standard spoiler from car mad, i think that would make it look 10 times better.

Ive got my best mechanic mate booked for next saturday (6th Nov). On the day was planned to fit the decats, Blitz air filter, front mount, HID's, PCV valves, Braided clutch hose (these are the things i have). I also wanted to get the plugs and oil changed.

And if i can afford it, a new clutch!

I wanted to go and see that white one first, but after 2 emails and 3 texts, i stil haven't had a reply!

Christ am just impressed the guy selling the white one had all his work done at Ztech and has all the receipts for it and it's even still going :tongue_smilie:

Stick with what yer got an spend a few pennies on it mate.
