Want to lower the zed , using the standard tires and wheels and shocks ,how much should i drop it , and how much firmer is the ride going to be ?

Featured Replies

from what ive been told its advisable to change the dampers/shocks when doing this as they will be tired as there old. so realistically the price of replacing the standard shocks and uprating the springs will cost around teh same money as getting a set of coilovers from miester is it that sell on here. so if someone else would care to agree or correct me taht has to be the cheapest sensible option.

Depends. If the shocks have been changed recently, then springs would be ok.

Im on the same boat.

You have a PM

this is mine... scrapes on most bumps... ground it out yesterday trying to get into my girlfriends work. My exhaust and sills love me.

How much is it lowered ?

A lot! I can try measure over the weekend if you like?

It looked like this on stock suspension before coilovers (wound all the way down)

Are coil overs a good mod on the Z ? Some of my mates had Cossies and said that coil overs made the ride too harsh !

Depends how you plan on using the car, the handling is much much better now. Eventually mine will have a full drift set up - stiff coilovers tighten up the back end a lot.

coilovers on mine, its lowered but tastefully, they are a great upgrade but mine are hight and dampening adjustable.. i strongly suggest them, the red one is too low IMHO looks silly.

Bought my Zed lowered 40mm on just springs and no dampers to match and to say its an annoyance is an understatement!

The exhaust scrapes into my driveway and cant take speed bumps faster than 10mph and thats even with the car on 19's :/

Dont get me wrong I love lowering the car to get the right stance, but I think there are certain type of cars for doing that with (e.g. Dub scene) but for me 300+BHP ain't the place for it, I want my car to have a bit of suspension travel/damping at 100 and plenty MPH :P

I'm not joking, seriously, I get over all the speed bumps and pot holes, it's quite stiff tho, bc's on 16 & 18 clicks of STIFF ;)
