o2 sensors fine

MAF fine

injectors fine

timing fine

no fuel leaks

thermostat fine.

viscous fan new.

seems a bit low, works out to about 14MPG...... even a full tank 70quid, wont see over 175-180 miles. what are you people getting and if its better than mine, any ideas....

the car has just come from Z world on and on a conzult, no faults.

I can do 160 miles on 35 quid if I drive like a granny. However, I can get the mpg as low as 10 if I'm putting my foot down lots!! All down to how your driving it :)

thing is, when driving like a granny i get about ........90 miles, it honestly doesnt vary from booting it loads, to taking it easy loads.

I regularly do the Cardiff to Torquay run and if I keep it bellow 85 (i.e. a fast granny) I get 130 miles for about £33 (on tesco's 99 ron).

f**k sake, what could be then? im getting over 50 miles less than most of you. thats then 100 per tank.

I definately get better performance and better MPG if i use 99ron fuel, My swb does about 220 miles to a tank when on avaerage driving

My stock TT manual gave 17-19 in town (including A40/406 traffic jam commute), 24 - 27 motorway, overall average 20-21.

Yup - sounds like mine as well Mike!!

I reckon on somewhere between 260 - 300 miles from a tank on average!

If you have the "all clear" on a Conzult, have you considered a leaky tank or fuel pipe?

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

no leaks from tank or fuel lines..... im stumped.

Mine's an NA and I get 16-18 in town and around 28 in town. But then my Merc does 14 in town, so I'm happy!

Things like tyre pressures can also make a big difference, especially on the motorway.

sounds very similar to mine. on a full tank i'm getting around 180, i once maxed 219, but that was with a few long journeys. but i also found that when i went to go fill it up again i was only managing to put in between 50 and 60 litres. so i'm begining to think my fuel light is a bit premature. but thats assuming that every tank has a 70 litre capacity.

Never seen my low fuel light come on , as it could suck shit up if your tank is dirty and clog your filter up ,.

I get about 60-70 miles to half a tank from full around town. On a run down the M4 I'm getting 140ish to the same half tank from full. I'm sure I was getting more before I had it serviced.

Around town I'm looking at around 14 to 16mpg, motor way, not sure yet as i was just too happy driving it to give a crap :D

The light gets brighter the lower you go so when it just comes on you still have a fair bit left in the tank.

When the light comes on, there is 10liters left in the tank, 72 liter tank.

Seems funny that N/A motors aren't getting significantly better MPG than TT's.

I can get 300+ from a tank without getting the yellow light on, on a long motorway journey at 80-85..

Even when I'm caning it, I still get 200 from a tank.

Are you sure your brakes aren't seized!!!

cheers

It is initially surprising that N/As are not more economical than TTs, but it's down to the fact that we have to push them hard to make them shift. You don't have to do that in the TT...

I don't push mine to often ,But i don't go slow ,I don't think theres much difference between the tt and na if driven sensibly and economically, when they push the tt the turbos suck more

if i put £15 in i get around 50 miles from it and thats in my tt i have been using tescos momentum which i find is so much better than regular unleaded

As a direct comparison, my NA Auto gets about 10%-15% better mileage than my TT Manual. Yes, that's despite the auto. Last year of the TT average 20.3mpg, last full year of the NA average 22.5 (motorway about 26, commute about 21). Currently (since new injectors a few months ago) 24.2 but that might be I've done more motorway miles than usual. I'll tell you in a year!

Both stock and unmolested. TT had Mongoose exhaust, NA still stock.

NAs do give better mpg.

According to the mph on my satnav, if you're getting worse figures than these, you've either got a slightly "off" zed in some way or you enjoy collecting points!

Oh and PS, Shell V-Power every fill (since it was Optimax :) )

The TT is actually more economical cruising on motorway that a NA, due to final drive gearing, it's a different story on boost ofcourse.
