Well with the winter months coming im looking for a decent car cover, not one of these 750 things but a good cover for a respectable price.

Its mostly to make sure that the rain etc is kept away from the roof at the targa seals incase anything could seep through in the off-chance, my rubbers dont leak but just an extra precaution.

Also to those who use there zeds in the winter take car on the roads as they are becoming more trickier day by day.

cheers

I'm only just going to get mine ready to drive just before it's too cold and wet to enjoy driving it unfortunately so i'll be opting with driving VERY carefully in the V8 because I need to break the engine in and shake the car down ready for drag racing next year in March :(

I'm just about to move to my new house which has no garage (for the moment) so i'll be buying a car cover. There was a company i bought some excellent cleaning products from recently and they had tailer made car covers for about the £80-100 mark and look very good for the money.

I'll look up the company later on and post a link up.

Yeah, I think thats the way to go. I could run some juice in there for lights and stuff. Missies will have a fit with it on the drive, but she's away for a few days...

For £170 thats a good price, can the feet be bolted down? Id be going into tarmac.

Yes bud got two mounting holes in each leg and the frames very sturdy obviously doesn,t like strong winds too much so i,m gonna be roping right over mine and tying it down to some fastenings in the drive to stop the covering bellowing out too much , already put bungees across the frame openings on the inside to stop it blowing inwards too much . HTH

Looks like Fred West's drive!:lol::lol:

You aint kidding look at the state of the corpse they,ve found :tt2::tt2::tt2::tt2: lol

If the wind got under that its a goner mate

Not had a problem with mine had it for 5 years now

made up some cleats that i fixed it done with

The only problem I have now is the canvas is starting to rip but hey after 5 years that aint to bad

I dont like them. If your in a windy place then it will most prob rub and where the paint away :(

roflmao!!!!!

those covers from fleabay are good as long as the car is dry when they go on as they have a nasty habit of freezing to the car overnight and you risk tearing the breathable fabric when you try to take it off in the morning.

Personally I've not heard too many good things about car covers. In fact long term, there's the problem of them trapping moisture underneath and causing rust issues (eventually) anyway. So you may as well just leave it outside!!

Also I've heard that the effects of the wind can cause the covers/tensioners to move and the resulting rubbing may scratch or scuff the paintwork.....

However I have seen something called a "carcoon" at classic car shows though - basically it's an inflatable cocoon type thing that the car sits safely inside. Try "Googling" it........

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Ok cheers, well maybe best with just a roof cover possibly. No bother I will try Googling it as i guess ur not sure how to copy exact links etc.....

Cheers

I got one of the halfords covers, cost £50 for the small size (mr2), fits

a treat.

Had around 3 days of non stop rain recently, took the cover off a day or so

later, car was as dry as a bone, no water at all had got through it.

They have buckles to fasten under the car, elastic edges etc.

Can thoroughly recommend one, reckon you'd be after a large size for the Z.

I'm going lol wait a week as the chap who sold me the car had a cover with it when he bought it. Got an email last night he will Be home in a week so he may send that over if he is able to find it.

Still very intrested to see what people use tho, one with a soft linen underneath or what?

I bought 1 of these the other week for the winter months.

I've got 2 strips of foam which I place accross the roof of the Z just to lift the cover up a liitle bit. If the cover you buy is breathable you should be ok. I take the cover off on sunny dry days just to give it an airing :)

changed the link!

Covers mate :)

That's exactally what happened to my trans am. Had 2 different car covers. A universal one and a tailor made one. Both were tied on tight and both rubbed the paint. Even slight friction in the wind takes the paint off. Had to have the front nose, wing mirrors and spoiler repainted.

I now don't bother and take my chances with the weather despite my roof leaking slightly.

*********

The car covers i would like are full car ones, none of the blwo up garages or that as the car will still be parked on the street. One from halfords suppose sounds pritty good.
