Just wondered if anyone has done the full works

so far i have

relocated battery to the boot

deleted aivs, egr, carbon canister and hicas

relocated fuse box to under nose pannel

going to relocate fuel filter to under wing

metal work wise im filling all holes, removed battery tray, smoothed strut tops/inner arches/chassis rails.

basically the only thing i want in the engine bay is the engine and brake servo.

has anyone done anything with the loom so it is simplified

was thinking of relocating ptu to under nose (should help keep it cooler)

temp sensor wires to come from under throttle cover

reroute the loom that runs along the sides of the engine.

has anyone relocated the small fuse box near the brake servo?

my aim is to make things as simple as possible/hide wires and make access alot better. obviously im going to have to cut/extend some wires but that will be good as i will basically make a new loom.

what trunking looks best?

I,ve been trying to do something similar , smoothed the inner wings , relocated the fuel filter and the fuse box and using a different power steering pot sunk into the inner wing , engines now back in and i,m connecting everything up but it is difficult to keep it looking uncluttered as there,sa sooo much to connect !!

looking good mate.

got a bit of a stealth plan for my pas pot

you got a pic of yours for inspiration??

i suppose you dont need to spend much money on cleaning up the bay? just alot of timE?

ahhh, you're after the engine and fec all else look :D

do-able on a VW, and if you pull it off in a zed, my hat will come straight off to ya ;)

he still has pas pots and a few odds and sods going on. i would really like to try to go for this look. only problem is that the zed engine is a little on the big/complicated side.

ill see what i can do about that

ant,

i wont bother reading you thred again, ive read it so many times already:thumbup1:

fantastic build there mate

are you up and running yet mate

I relocated as much as I could reasonably do on mine, but left the battery tray as I have a big audio build planned for the boot. Also because mechanically it was a big build I have a big rad etc and pipes for NOS etc.

Where you gonna put the power steering pump bud?

Mines not that extreme http://www.project300tt.com/2010/05/24/all-together-now/ but it has a cover at the back hiding a few bits but it looks nice without it as well as it is all done with braided hoses, but sounds like you are trying to get to another level?. Most time consuming bit is the fuse box.

yours look great too mate, can wait to see it. far bigger spec than i will have

i am trying to really push the boundries but im a bit stuck on the pas pot.

i was going to mount it low down with only the cap poking through where the washer bottle is on the lwb (mine is a shortie). however after thinking about it i think this will be lower than the pas pump and will end in the fluid leaking out so no good.

i might try to get it under the nose pannel but its going to be getting full under there with a large filter, fuse box, hid balasts, intercooler pipes etc.

its the rewiring under the plenum that i think will cause the most grief. i dont want any visible wires/trunking unless un avoidable.

plan still stands as only visible parts to be the engine/brake servo and clutch pot. but i might move those too

I,m just trying to get a cleanish uncluttered look like this one

love the plenum on that. i think its ceramic coated

loose the fuel filter, cruise control battery and some of the wires and its about as far as i expect to get.

my car is black so im not sure how obviously stripped it will look. ant do you have a finished pic

but without the battery it wont run?... and when you put the battery back and try to start it, fuel will piss all over the engine bay? and when you sort that it still might not work because of missing wires? :smartass:

would make an intereting mission for the aa man!

Car is still waiting to be sprayed. Custom exotics really busy at the moment.

The last pic you see in my rebuild thread is pretty much how it looks finished.

Good luck with yours. Look forward to reading about it.
