life from another planet, little green men, grey aliens with big eye's, whatever conception you have of aliens do you believe in them??

they could be tiny organism's to huge monsters hell bent on destruction but i think there has to be life out there, we cant be the only being's

i also think we have been visited by E.T (not the one in the film lol)

there is also a sound clip intercepted from space that is deemed to be alien message, they call it the "wow" message, scientists have been told not to send another message back incase it is hostile

do you think they could be out there watching us??

True, but just because society becomes more advanced that does not mean that anything is possible! IMO it is extremely unlikely but I stand to be corrected in 30,000 years time :whistling:

Sharks have been around for millions of years but they cant fly to the next planet!! :D

Sharks aren't consider intelligent mate, they aren't self aware there only goals are breeding and eating (like a lot of us, I know) therefore they have no narrative for self improvement. In the millions of years they have evolved they have become apex predators.

maybe we do, but it is still food for thought though

It is & think it is really interesting myself! :)

Just still think interstellar travel is pretty unlikely even with a super advanced technology.

Also in all the years of SETI bugger all has been picked up! I think they did pick up a blip once but nothing was ever proved. Who knows though - maybe we will one day know for sure :alien:

Charles Darwin mate...they dont need too,a shark is at its pinicle of design so its been decided by evolution its best kept where it is

I know - was only a jest bud! I just mean that just because life has been around for thousands or even millions of years that the impossible can be done with technology - there are always limitations of what can be achieved. I know none of us know for sure but I just dont think FTL travel or even close to it is possible. Just my beliefs :)

Who's to say that we weren't created BY aliens as single celled organisms so they could track evolution from it's most basic origins?

Also, consider the ending to Men In Black?? A novel concept :)

It's a bloody good job sharks aren't intelligent mate, or we'd be doomed! lol

I know what your saying and yes nobody knows what can be achieved with technology, I just think that given enough time and development anything is possible.

I believe there must be other life out there on other worlds, to think we are the only ones in the universe is sooooooooo unlikely IMO!

I also think that the chances of them ever reaching us is equally unlikely LOL!

That's my opinion as well; generally.....

......I'd say we're definitely not alone in the universe; but will the others reach us? Who knows - but all those claimed UFO sightings? There's got to be something in that. I guess they could just be "unmanned" probes like we have sent out in space.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

who'd have thought the world wasnt flat lol, i think the speed needed to travel the distances needed are within reach

there was a german guy who spent so long in the space station and travelled so fast that he actually went back in time, its way above my intelligence but not my imagiantion

I guess thats the thing - I dont believe that anything is possible! Some things just cant happen, regardless of technology. Movies portray a fantastic world where just about anything is possible especially in sci fi. Nice thought but unlikely IMHO!

but all those claimed UFO sightings? There's got to be something in that.

Or maybe not LOL! There are loads of things that are unexplained but that does not mean there is no explanation!

Peoples own imagination often distorts the truth - with all the UFO sightings, ghost sightings, phychic phenomonon, telekenisis & just about all other paranormal activities like Uri Gella that spoon bending mofo I cannot believe that there is not one scrap of hard evidence to support any of it!!

People like to believe in the fantastic but much of it will remain fantasy IMO.

Like I said tho - who knows, maybe some spoon bending ghost of an alien will come down to earth & read some tarot cards to me to show how wrong I am about it all!!

Love stuff like this. A few years back do you remember looking at the sky at night and seeing the trail of the hale bop comet!!

well it took nearly 4 months to travel from the east horizon to the west horizon as we see it from England, at around 200,000mph, each star you see is a sun in another galaxy similar to our own sun.

The hubble space telescope is on its way out of our solar system, and has been up there for years, takes nearly 2 months to send a message back.

No way we are the only things in all this space. Who is to say we have never been visited before on earth.

The truth is out there......................

I enjoy philosophising to myself from time to time about this (sounds heavy already!)

Astronomers reckon there are more stars out there than there are grains of sand on every beach in the world! That's an uncountable amount, and there will surely be some form of life in almost every solar system out there, whether it be germs or sentient beings!

The interesting thing is (bringing God etc. into this now), is that everything in existence is impossible. Nothing comes from nothing. If there's no space, no nothing (e.g. in the beginning), then where did everything come from? Two atoms smashing together in space? Ok then, but where did those two atoms come from? And where did their creators come from? And you could go back and back infinitely until you come to nothing. So in theory, nothing should exist, but we all do so where did we come from? I don't specifically believe in God as some big beardy chap floating around and creating things, but perhaps 'god' is the name of some alien race that kind of kicked off our religions somehow as a mechanism to steer mankind in a particular direction, or something...

I think you could spend lifetimes thinking about a) what's out there, b) where and how did it all start, c) what is religion, and are they carrying messages and stored knowledge from a 'master' species or a previous life (anyone who has completed Assassins Creed 2 will know what I'm on about here!)

Even with all this wormhole and space-bending technology I don't think the dwellers of one solar system will ever be able to visit another - Proxima Centauri which is our closest star, is 4.2 light-years away. So travelling constantly at the speed of light (670 million MPH), it will take you over 4 years to get there!

...anyway I seem to have drifted on for a while... All I say for sure is, "The Bacon Knows..."

Yea, but that still doesnt work cos where did either god or the alien race come from?! :tt2:

Mindbending it is though! :confused1:

I love this sh*t!!!

It absolutely amazes me. I seriously think there really is intelligent life out there, it is mathematically possible and logical. I think we have definitely being visited at some point, roswell for one being a dead cert. I myself have seen a questionable thing once upon a time (may have being after a spliff or two in my younger years but never the less I was not alone)

As StellaZ said about the myans and all that jazz, i've read a few things before about this mythical "planet X" and crazy alien visitors a few good years ago. it also explains the missing link with breading with extra terrestrial life.

I'm with evoluzion on the God thing, i'm in no way religious (don't get me started with the catholics) but to try and imaging there being nothing, and then somehow all this appearing is more far fetched than some of the old testament crap. so somehow there must of being something first to create it, and then something to create that and then so on and so on. and some sort of alien input does make some religious stories make a bit more sense.

I don't think we would be raped and pillaged by aliens, they would be far more civilised and advanced than we are and we grew out of the rapping and pillaging pre 20th century. So hopefully they would be harmless. After all if we woke up tomorrow morning and stumbled across some flux capacitor able of propelling us through time and space at a ridiculous rate of knots i'm pretty sure the first thing we would do wouldn't be to try and rob some aliens of all there natural resources. Although i wouldn't put it past the americans.

As previously stated though going from basic flight to space travel in a generation is pretty spectacular, so hopefully in my life time i'd like to think we'd be that little bit closer to communicating with a non earth native creature.

anyway rant over....Bed time.

there is no way there isn't any life out there, just look at the amount of stars and most of them have planets around them, also its a known fact that we listen to broadcasts from outer space but will not broadcast them our selfs as not to attract them to us.

We've been broadcasting into space ever since the first radio transmission!!

I'd agree however that is all based on our very limited knowledge of physics. We had 600 years of development held back by religion in the dark ages. If that hadn't happened we would be far more advanced as a species (might even have developed a turbo seal that doesn't wear out! lol)

A species that is say 30,000 years old will make us look like cave dwelling rodents in comparison.

We (Homo Sapiens) are older than that. And we split from chimpanzees about 5 million years ago.

Aliens? It's possible. I fear we'd be separated by distance and more importantly time. Even if humans existed for a million years (not likely) the chances of another sophisticated lifeform's million years overlapping with ours would be pretty slight. IMO anyway.

Completely believe in Aliens, whether they are as advanced as us or moreso who knows?

Have they visited us? Doubt it, we would know about them by now.

Would they attck? Doubt it, there is no reason, we cant leave this rock so are of no threat.

bloody big waste of space if we're the only life in the universe!

I'm open on the subject, i agree with craigdavid that the chances of another planet holding the same life breeding properties are slight and the chances that their species existing overlap with ours is even more remote, add to that space travel for 1000s of years the chances are very slim they'd ever make it to our planet BUT there are some very weird unexplained things that are mentioned right back to the dawn of time about people visiting our planet and who knows it might be a reality :)

i was watching a NASA programme (i wish i could remember which one) and it said what i wrote above, that we listened but wont broadcast, but you know sky programmes :whistling:

i can prove that aliens exhist!!

:alien::alien:I'm here!!:alien::alien::tt2::tt2:

but seriously i do believe. why would we be the only exhistance? i love all things alien and paranormal and believe i have seen both.
