hello. Ive just joined as ive bought a 300zx TT.

I bought the car with the intention of taking the engine and gearbox out to fit into another car.

Having driven this, i dont know if i should do the conversion, or keep this and try for some big power.

Opinions please...:thumbup1:

Big Power, the head turns from the Zed are what do it for me! so id keep it in the Zed, but thats me :batman:

E36 BMW.

If i keep this or do the conversion, i'd want around 450bhp.

Easier to keep the zed, but the idea of it being in something its not meant to be does it for me!

Not even sure it'll fit yet...

I am a big fan of the E36. Ive had 3 M3 Evos. I Love them, they just arn't fast enough. I bought a 200sx at the begining of this year with the plan to chase power, but the car felt a bit cheap, so i went back to an M3.

I thought a turbo engine in an E36, would be perfect...

Welcome to the club!

As for your suggestion of putting the VG30DETT in a BMW; I'd say don't! Not because I'm biased or anything; but you'd simply be better off sticking with a BMW engine in an E36.

Now the idea of shoe-horning a nicely tuned BMW 4.4 V8 into a 300zx..... Hmmm!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Interesting mate, 'cos as I was reading through this thread I was thinking "Put the VG in an 'S' body"

I'm assuming you re-sold the 200sx to buy the beemer though

shame as that would have been one hell of a conversion

Welcome to the Club mate.

I'd say keep the Z, Keep the Z, Keep the Z. BMW's SUCK!!!

I'm just a little biased toward the Z (and i really dislike BM's :( )

I should expect 300zx owners to side with the 300zx:yes:

I did sell the 200sx before i bought my last M3. My mate was telling me he's seen a VG in a ps13 tho...

I dont know what to do as yet. I think, tidy the zed up, and then see how i feel. My mates think i'd sell it after a few months and buy another M3 if i dont do the conversion...

Sounds to me like you've done the whole M3 thing for a while. Put your slant on a Zed, then if you still have a Bavarian urge just transplant the 450bhp engine you'll have built. Simples really

And welcome to the mad house fella.

Cheers fella. Does sound like a plan. It wont have cost me anything to hold on to it for a while. Get the engine running nice..

I did plan that with the s14a, but i put it up for sale one night just to test the water, and it was gone the next day!!
