New water hose finally arrived on friday, managed to order the wrong one

last week so i'm now a week behind where i want to be with getting the

zed back on the road.

After doing a plennum water bypass I believe theres only two water pipes

that i need to connect together to complete the circuit.

These are pictures below, now if anybody thinks this is wrong please PM me.

After confirmination that I can safely and carefully split the loom i did

exactly that today, with the help of a fresh stanley blade I scored the

outer sheeth of the loom and peeled all the black sticky tape off.

Also marked each cable to ensure i didn't put things back in the wrong

place.

Before making and taping up the new shape loom i first done a test fit

of the plenum to make sure all the cables are not obscured in someway.

Heres a pic of the new wired loom in shiny yellow tape :

Not the best pic as its fairly dark outside but after I tidied up the loom

and all the connectors I refitted the plennum with its new gasket.

Apart from the cable loom at the far right i've managed to tuck and hide most of the connectors that were in there oem positions.

First thing in the morning weather dependant i'll drain the coolant and fit the

hard pipes i got a few weeks ago.

Was out working on the zed for a few hours this morning and I managed to get

everything back together properly (i hope) and start her up for the first time in

over a month.

Done a precheck for everthing on the plennum then at 6pm i reconnected the

battery and gave the key a turn.

Took three attempts to start her - most likely due to no fuel in the pipes but

after the third turn she started !

Quickly followed by disaster !!

One of the clips on the fuel line on the plennum wasn't tight enough and a 4ft

jet of fuel sprayed upwards all over the car. I turned the ignition off grabbed a

towl to soak up the visable fuel leak and tightened the jubilee clip.

Giving 15 minutes to get rid of the fuel vapour surrounding the car i tried on the

ignition once again - this time with a hissing noice that a traced to a damaged

pipe at the back of the plennum.

So engine rebuild is 90% succesfull and all I need to do is buy some new pipes.

No pics this time as it was like pitch black but i'll take some in the morning.

Was up early this morning and took a shot of the engine as is now !

Still need to get some new pipes so the pipe you see at the back and

right side is tempory !

So heres a before shot :

and heres the new look shot :

Also made a wee video which i'll put up shortly !

Need to change those red pipes too as there causing a vacuum leak

Which you can hear in the video which i'll post.

Looking the dogs danglies mate, very nice.

The pipe on the rear of the balance bar to the iav, without looking at mine, does it not reduce at one end to the balance bar, that might be a part of the leak.

Right its guage time and i'm going all digital !

I've had iridium drift guages from the zcentre for some time now and wanted

to go all out and get some more so got myself 6 in total now !

Starting with the top cluster : Oil Pressure - Air Fuel - Turbo Boost

Bottom cluster we have : Oil Temp - Volt - Water Temp

Heres a pic of the top cluster :

And the two together :

Not sure when i'll get these fitted but hopefully very shortly,

Hardest bit and i'd say scarest bit would be cutting a hole in my dash.

Going to have a few switches below in a row so that i can turn the

whole lot off and for swapping signal on the air/fuel guage.

Lots getting done this week and next, first off the zeds in the body shop getting an

overhaul; new skirts, door fillers, 99 spec spoiler and nose panel courtesy of car.mad

and also a set of vented wings from the zcentre.

Then next week the zeds booked into another garage of my mates to get my meisters

fitted.

Just like to say thanks to car.mad for getting the skirts out to me soo quick - cheers.

They arrived this morning and we quickly done a test fit and must say looking good so far !

I'll be nipping in each day to take more pics and will update them here shortly.

More pics time !

Cars still in the workshop, delays again due to faulty lighting !

The zed was worked on for long as possable in the dark and even at one point we

used the headlights of another car to light up the garage.

The tailgates nearly done and the 99 spec spoiler will be test fitted tomorrow as soon

as everything drys properly.

Getting there !

I say - we are looking smooth !

Fitted the drivers side wing yesterday too and had a wee issue of the middle vent

near the door pulling in to much and it caused the profile of the wing to be shallower

than the actual door; simple fix was to glue a bluck of wood to the interior of the

the wing which pushed it out a bit and also it reinforced it making it more sturdy.

Lastly we have the new nose panel which i meshed up on saturday

We test fitted them and it looks ok without being trimmed !

What part needs trimmed and why ?

On a test fit the door closes perfectly and the fillers dont rub anywhere.

Ah no thats fine if they fit then they fit.

Just on some skirts the top line sits a little higher than the skirts if that makes sence.

Keep the pics comming

Actually dont fit, lol

Was told they fitted by the fitter; but then had to trim them after they

were glued to the door, hes gonna back fill any gaps underneath to seal

it all but if i have any problems i'll likely need another set to do it again !

Why is it people just dont listen as i did tell him they would have to be trimmed !
