I dont know how many more bulshit excuses these firms think of to raise the premium.

Here goes: my insurance is due for renewal in a few weeks, last year i paid £309.50 FC inc policy fee, accident plus etc. I just had my renewal quote of £426.50. Same company, same details, nothings changed.

I phoned my broker, who cant really understand why its gone up but said that most insurance has gone up by about 20% this year, so why has mine gone up by about 40%, couldnt really explain.

I phone the insurance company direct and they state that from January this year the import policy rules and rates have changed, although not necessarily because the car is an import, but due to categories etc..

What a load of tosh, needless to same im on the search now, the cheapest so far is £303 but thats still not as low as i think it should be, considering year on year it goes down quite a bit and thats with 9 years NC.

Just thought i would throw it out there to see what your thoughts are.

Cheers

Graham

insurance companies are in existence to make money. not to help you. i have had some horrible experiences with insurance companies which resulted in me losing my 4 years no claims for an accident that wasnt my fault. if i think about it too much il get pi*sed off so il leave it there...

@£300 is in the classic policy price bracket so i'd say its very good value bud if you want less then its going to be a classic/2nd car policy i'd say and you wont have to use your no-claims either :D

I dont mind paying the £300 quote but mine had jumped up to £426 from last year with the same company.

And yes i realise they are not here to help me, but unfortunately its one of lifes rip offs that we are obliged to pay lol

the best was told to me by elephant who put my premium up cos someone went into the back of me, she said it had gone up because I was more of a liability on the road. I asked her does she expect me to leave my car on my drive, she didn't answer. They're all the same, here to rip us off!! Makes you see why people don't bother with insurance cos they'd only get a slapped wrist and a silly little fine :(

i was with carol nash 5 years ago with the white zed classic car policy first year i insured it cost me £245 when the renewal came through it was £498 i rang them and asked why the policy price had doubled and they could not give me a reason, i then moved car to admiral on a multicar policy with my daily car, they gave me 5 years no claims on the z and fully comp was £240 per year, this year however i had 7 years no claims on the z so when i insured the new one for 7 months on a uk car they wanted £154 for same on the j spec i bought £199 but when i tried to claim for the smashed rear 1/4 window they would not pay for a dealer part because the car was over 3 years old

my insurance went up 40quid from the previous year with no claims etc etc and everything the same! did price comparison do dah and saved 250quid! Told my insurance company if they can beat it ill stay and they said Enjoy your new insurer XD

try money supermarket on the net . saved me overall £450 on both cars . lot cheaper than compare the market . com

My mate just got a renewal for his 3000GTO. No accidents or claims, no changes to car or situation.

Was £600, now £1100....insurance is just a joke. :(

I have my SLK and Julia's Rav-4 on an Admiral multicar policy. For the last few years. I have paid around £245 for the SLK and £265 for the Rav (I can't understand why the SLK should be cheaper either - unless women are not really the safest drivers.....:innocent:)

Every year the renewal comes in with something like a 40% increase and every year I obtain an alternative quote on Confused.com. Each time, Admiral comes out with the cheapest quote by a long way on Confused.com - always in the region of what I paid for the previous year(s). So every year I end up calling Admiral and, sure enough, they lower the price of my existing policy renewal to match or beat their own Confused.com quote?????

Why not offer that price in the first place?

I haven't changed insurers, despite the obvious rip-off attempts because they always end up the cheapest and, when I did come to claim back in 2008, their service was nothing short of superb! They sorted all the admin efficiently, arranged for the SLK to be repaired by Mercedes and gave me a nice brand new E320 CDi to cruise around in for about 2 months whilst mine was off the road.

The Z is with Lynbrooks and that stays around £206 on a classic policy.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I think i will give Lynbrooks a call, couldnt do it on line. Ive heard these mentioned a few times so got nothing to lose really.

I had a 2.0 Ghia Mondeo which the wife drove and had insured with Swift. I sold it and bought a Micra as she wanted something smaller.

Despite going from a group 12 to a group 3 the premium increased. When I put it to them how ridiculous this was the girl tried to waffle on about parts prices...............Give me a break.:cursing:

As the policy was paid up for the year they had me by the balls
