Hi everyone!

Been looking for one of these for ages and finally...one popped up for sale round the corner! Firstly I was wondering if anyone had seen this one about before because I no theres only a small amount of these still left on the road and they get passed about between us enthusiasts!

I waited to find the twin turbo MANUAL in black so im pretty chuffed (black leather aswel!). Just had a full engine rebuild with re-conditioned turbos etc as of Jan 2010 and I have the receipt for 2k+! The guy I bought it off just couldnt finance it any longer so lucky me!

The car isnt exactly how i want it at the moment. I want new alloys, maybe a dump valve but thats about it. I dont want to strain the turbos with too much boost.

Would appreciate any feedback! Thanks

Right il try get these pics up....

Ha cant beleive you guys had been talking about it! The guy was a really nice bloke who i bought it off. Had a good hour conversation with him and had a cup of tea round his house!

Thanks for all the welcomes guys! what is it about this car that makes it look like night rider! i think its just the alloys!

Baz - YES the insides of the targa roof need a bit of attention!

What do you guys think would set this car off, apart from new alloys. any mods you guys have all done that subtly improve the looks or performance?

Depends what look you want there are allot of kits etc out there amd varied opinions on all, allot favour the 99 spec front/rear spoiler and rear lights etc.

Chris

If it was mine:-

clear side repeaters - definately.

17"/18" dishy wheels

lowered

jap-spec rear bumper (square plate recess)

99 spec rear lights

tinted windows

Nice one mate!!

AS for dump valves, you will need 2:D!

I recommend the HKS ones. Tho i have a spare set of z1 rfl bovs if intrested with reduced spring that set off around 14psi.

Tho.......Very nice zed and i hope you will enjoy it mate:D!!

Hi Henry!

Welcome to the club. I reckon that's a tidey car you have just purchased - good luck with your new toy!

As for improvements; looks wise less is more IMO. These cars were just right as they came out of the factory; so the best modifications are subtle updates. Like clear side repeaters; 1999-spec rear lights and a new set of alloys. That's it - aside from maybe a 1999-spec front bumper nothing else is needed!

Performance wise you can do small upgrades like air filter and exhaust; through to a re-chip and turbo upgrades. It depends how fast you want it and how much you want to spend. But forget the dump valves - pointless IMO!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thank you all for the welcoming words! Im looking forward to actively participating a lot more in the forum! im sure i have A LOT to learn!

i like the 99-spec rear light conversion but can someone show me what a 99-spec front bumper looks like? also BAZ mentioned about a jap spec rear bumper (square plate recess) but im not sure what this looks like either! Im very new to the 300zx scene as you can probably tell. Very excited though to start getting to grips with everything ZX!

Sussex Stu ive realised there is actually quite a few 300zx's down south by looking on here, but ive only EVER seen 1 on the road!

Thanks again

If you look in my signature at the bottom of my post, the bumper has a square hole for the number plate. Then look at yours - it is long and thin. Personal preference, but I despise the long uk one!

Just take them off completely! 2mins and looks alot better :)

Welcome to the forum. With a set of nice wheels, that'll look good. Personally would get a more subtle spoiler and wouldn't even bother wasting your time with dump valves.

99-spec rear lights would be my choice of lights. They are the only ones that compliment the car. I'd be tempted to try something different for the body. Whilst 99-spec fascia is very nice, Stillen do some very nice bumper extensions...and being a black car will be most subtle.

Generally; steer clear of vented nose panels, vented wings, vented skirts, vented bonnets, ugly and ungainly aftermarket front bumpers. There is so much unflattering detritus available for them, it's untrue. There are some really nicely modified Z32s out there with quite a few bodymods that do look good. Smithy's car is a nice example of a heavily modified Z32. But there are few around that look nice like his does.

But, as Richard has said, you don't actually need to do a single thing to the bodywork. They are stunning car straight out of the box and it's very easy to get things wrong. It's a smooth slippery shape and agressive fibreglass bodywork just does NOT work on the car like it does on Skylines for instance.

Here's a black Z32 with little more than a well executed stance and a choice selection of wheels....and it's one of nicest Z32s I've ever seen. I even think that stock rear spoiler looks great.

The tyres have too much stretch on them for me, I like a nice flat tyre wall, but he's nailed the stance, so it kinda works.

FunkySi - Im in love with that 300zx! I would love to know the list of exterior mods he has done to that! It looks very lowered for a start! Completly agree about the vented body panels, not my cup of tea either...

As I said, bodywise, it's 99.9% OEM/original. :)
