Hi all,

I just thought I'd share this - although it's not that bad!!

I went to the dentist this morning as I'd had the misfortune to break a filling. A rather large filling on a rear molar; anyway - the dentist advised me that it was not worth re-filling it. Plus he thought that to root-fill and crown it would be a waste of time and money too; especially as I have a wisdom tooth coming through right nest to it.

So his opinion was to remove the offending tooth:gun_bandana:

2 injections to numb the area and I didn't feel a thing.......

......as he grabbed it with the "pliers" and yanked on the tooth for 10 minutes:ohmy:

Fortunately I heal quickly and despite the anasthetic wearing off hours ago I'm in no pain. I have to hand it to my dentist - he does a superb job! I really didn't feel the injection or the extraction........

.....BUT I have this sodding great hole where the tooth once was so I must make sure I get no bits of food stuck there over the next couple of days. And I have to eat on one side of my mouth as a precaution - which really sucks as I cannot taste my food properly that way.

Oh, and if I want an implant (to fill the gap) once the gum has healed, my dentist will do it for me. For £1500:w00t:

So you've been warned - don't upset me over the next few days as I may be a little over-zealous on a certain button!!!:ban:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Heh heh - cheers buddy!

The dentist gave me this "information sheet" upon which it kindly states avoiding alcohol.....

.....well I washed down my Mexican chilli chicken with a couple of Coronas and we shared a bottle of wine.....

.....and I have to say I feel much better now!!!

At £1500 I reckon I'll live with the gap too - hopefully that wisdom tooth will come through quicker and fill it.....:whistling:

Good surgeons dentists can be found in other, cheaper, countries! You can get one implant for £300-400!

I've got 4 of them to get implanted! :sweatdrop:

Alan...........

hello richard.

I recently had this done not long ago, same situation but instead of the fillign was my tooth that cracked away from the filling.

Anyways............i was left with the hole which as you know is quite large, it has now pritty much healed and that has taken roughly a maximum of 7-8weeks. After the first few days it should begin healing quite quick, when the hole gets smaller is when it begins to take longer to heal. all my teeth started moving right away which led to some dis-comfort, as you have a wisdom tooth coming in this may happen to you.

As for the food thing.......you arent going to get away from it.lol! It will go in for sure, but i used toothpicks to get it out followed by a good mouth-wash. Its may bleed alittle while clearign the food using a toothpick but its nothing major unless you stab yourself through the gum with it then i advise the dentist again.lol.

Booze sucks aswell while your mouth feels like that i think:(!
