I'm well into mountainbiking, ride 3-4 times a week.

Have been to Wales a few times and can thoroughly recommend it.

Have you tried 'bikeradar' ?

ive just started looking reciently into going a bit more long distance and off road, usually just ride a few miles to gym and running track ect, with the odd weekend 3-4 hours ride every so often along canals and rivers ect, just spent 150 quid really upgrading lots of bits on the bike so want to get my moneys worth this summer

and also i really love riding in rough terrain and down hill after a really tough climb, ill look into the above mentioned sites tho cheers, if anybody knows of any other feel free to post up

Get yourself an ordnance survey map for your area, devise some loops

of your own.

Pretty lucky where i am, have the ridgeway, chiltons, south downs etc...

whats the situation with ramblers, do they tut and moan if you cycle on thier walking paths, or do they just let you get on with it, i read somewhere you arn't suppost to clcle on public footpaths, only on bridleways ect. do people actually care in your experience?

You get the odd ones who think it's their god given right to own

the bridle ways, but most are ok, it is a public trail after all and you

have as much right to be there as them. I always make a point of

thanking them for letting me by, whether they're happy or not.

I've got 'hope' hubs that tick real loud, so they normally here me coming

anyway!

Horses are the worst, bloody hoof prints are a nightmare...:cursing:

Do a lot of night riding, once had a farmer try and take on 6 of us in a

fight, all he could see was lots of bright lights, thought we were pikeys

out lamping, he soon saw sense!..:innocent:

What bike do you ride, any pics?

sound, going to get me a map tomorrow then, its a saracen vice, not sure if you can still buy them, but its in awsome condition and amazing to ride (apart from the weight of it), just put 2 new continental tyres on, a new rear wheel, had new chain set, new pedals, new lights and just got a new bike computer today.

Had full service done on it too a few weeks back, did all brakes and gears and changed all cables, next job is some disk brakes i think, havent got any pics tho, will have to get some tomorrow when im out.

ive also got a saracen jump bike but thats just as a back up, its only got 7 gears and no rear suspension.

Cool, just googled that bike, not a bad bike in it's day!

I've got a trek fuel full susser & a commencal hardtail.

Think funkysi has a bike too, remember him posting something

up a while back, a marin something or other.

Thought i was getting quite good till i did a local race meeting...

fookin' hell, got my ass handed to me on a plate, by a bird!

She was fit though, in a white all in one lycra affair, with fook

all on underneath...:thumbup1: So i didn't mind following her!

A few of us going out tomorrow night, a place called 'grims ditch',

sounds nice...

Sounds challenging, found out loads today with regards to routes and places to go, next challenge after doing some loops around Yorkshire is Sheffield to hull following the canal path.

I've been known to do the odd few miles on a bike:clap:

Did this one last year whilst camping in Snowdonia

Used to do this regularly when I lived in Yorkshire.......

And when we go to stop with the in-laws in Coniston I pop around the lake and have a go at this......(amongst others)

The bike I use is a Giant XTC 4.5 - a reasonable hardtail with excellent hydraulic disc brakes

Later this year I'm hoping to do the C2C (again) but in 1 day.......http://www.c2c-guide.co.uk/

Apache... how did you find Betws y coed? I've ridden Afan, Coed y Brenin,

Cwm Carn & Nant y Arian trail centres, just this on to go!

Also did a 56k loop around the Elan Valley-very scenic.

Bob - the Betws y Coed trail was pretty good - a long uphill from the car park and some pretty challenging sections. It was pi55ing down when I did it - made for an interesting ride on The Dragon's Tail - wore a full face helmet on that trail and 'twas a good job as well as I went over the handlebars at one point -lol

No more difficult than other trails tho..............

lol, always sketchy in the rain @ wales, too many rock sections.

I did the black run at Cwm Carn, went over the bars about 4 times i

think, never been that frightened on a push bike!

Fell about 15' down a ravine at Afan, can't rememeber how it happened,

had a massive scar up my shin bone and loads of holly sticking out of

my crash helmet..lol!

A mate of mine fell off on the northshore section @ Afan (timber boards with chicken wire grip), and had chicken wire imprints across his face, along with

lots of blood!

It's all good fun though....

Yup, got a Marin Rock Springs! Hopefully the weather will be a bit better next weekend and I'll go for a ride up the Quantocks!

Is anyone into nightriding?

I just got a new light.. 900 lumens for £70!

Runs for 3hrs on full whack, 4.5 on low.

Been nightriding for a few yrs now, this is not far off

my 1750 lumen light, that cost way more.

Well impressive....

Also comes with a head strap, so would be handy for mechanic'ing etc...

I did a couple nightrides with the Moonglu bike shop in Ripon. Now that was quite interesting - lol. The light I use is a Lupine Passubio xl - not a bad light in its day.........haven't done any nightrides recently unless you include cycling 19 miles home from work:thumbup:

19 miles home from work! Bet you've got legs like tree trunks!

The adrenalin rush from nightriding is hard to beat, 30mph down

singletrack, winding through the trees definately gets the pulse racing!

Apparantly, nightriding is listed among the 10 most dangerous things to do..:cool2:

Don't do that ride every day - lol. Twice a week in the warmer/drier months - otherwise I do a 15 mile training route 4/5 times a week.........

Tis indeed a pulse racing pastime..........gonna have a go at doing Thetford Forest Black Route one night - it's an easy day ride but darkness should make it more interesting.
