Anyone got experience of renting a Garage/workshop space ? - Where/how would I find one available and what sort of costs ?

Not after anything like an Industrial unit, they are all longterm leases, too big and subsequently too expensive.

But after something more extensive than your typical single car garage.

no idea where such things are advertised.

Ring round some of the local farms. Murt rents a barn out with some friends. It's got a concrete floor in it and you can get 3 or 4 cars in it I think.

Had a look in local papers etc, as always on the look out for the same i nearly had one the other month but a person who lived in the same street as the garage got preference

of find someone with an exsisting place who finds it to big for there needs atm..this happens a lot as the tenant cant get out the lease so sub-lets a bit of space:winkiss:

ring your local council, they may have a list of garages

oh and its a renters market ATM, tell them you dont want a lease but would agree to give 3 months notice prior to leaving, if it has been empty long enough they may let you do that

is what we do with our workshops, we never have long term leases as they mean fook all these days, they just fook off and go bankrupt anyway lol

My ex-boss has bought an old car parts yard, and is building a new 4 ramp/lift garage and will rent it out per hour/day/week, I`ve never heard of such a thing, but apparently its quite common, Rent a ramp??

Free for me!!(i hope) Shame your down south bud, look around for `rent a ramp`

Be aware most landlords hate car repairs, I think they always expect loads of messy oil, reving engines and police visits, which in some cases is exactly right.

Yep this was one of the problems we had, and also the issue with "rates".

We pay 200 a month between 3 of us, you could fit 4 cars in there, it would be a bit tight but we have 3 in there at the moment, and its nice and relaxed, my 200sx (s13) is in there having its rot removed and a few other things sorted on it. And Si, it is a workshop, we just call it the barn because its on a farmyard lol :P

Cheers guys. I've had a fair bit of experience with Industrial leases, spent quite a while visiting Motor Trade premises and negotiating with agents a while back, and yeh finding premises that would actually allow Motor trade use was a problem.

This time its for personal use, I guess what Im looking for is something like what Murt has, an empty "Barn".

I'll try "rent a ramp" too.

I shouldn't of given in to the Missus.....our old house had a big double garage and massive parking area,I think there was a house too.......but she wanted something "nice" and "modern", so ended up with no garage, a shared driveway and lots of magnolia. Grrrr :/
