With regards the post made by one of the members of the forum about not getting parts after having paid the money, what would the members on this forum think of when we register/pay subs we need to provide contact details ie, home/mobile number and address so that in the event of a situation like this there are a means of getting in touch with the offending party. No details provided, then you are not allowed to sell, pretty crap for people like me breaking a car or selling the odd part but in the end the small minority spoil it for everyone. The information isnt made public, it should be kept private with the mods.

Just a thought, what do u guys think?

sorry to say but I think we cant do that with theses silly laws. Just in case it get into the wrong hands.

Think it would be a good idea, and there has to be a call made to the number to ensure its not a fake before subscribing, tho I don't think the mods will go for this.

The membership database already has most of these details on it already otherwise the pack could not be sent out

but details can not be given out to anyone with out said persons permission due to DPP

Good idea, but the best thing to do is to get a pm from a seller/buyer before continuing with a purchase or a sale, with all relevant info and contact details to safeguard any future problems that may arise.

For example: If im doing a dash and pods, they have my address to send it to, obviously.I have theirs for the return and i have no problem including my mobile number.

Although sales of items are based on trust, its down to the individual to be responsible.

Also, there is a buying/selling guideline sticky in the Items for sale

You know - I'm not sure everyone's details are kept on the database! I don't think the system needs a postal address to set up someone as a member....

......and as for the membership packs; I believe that our membership secretary simply asks for one's address by PM so he can forward them. I could be wrong, but my own investigation has led me to that conclusion.

It is a good idea though - and Graham's suggestion would certainly be worthwhile. Belt and braces etc....

Am just thinking out loud, I dont mean anyone's details be given out etc, thats not what I was thinking, but as groover says maybee a plan is to swap contact details before any money etc changes hands. Annoys me to think that people could make a quick buck from others, in most cases the seller is genuine and of course everything is open to abuse with false numbers, what about a kind of refrence system whereby other members vouch for the mobile number (or home number in some cases).

Most members that sell are usually well established and will either have a feedback score (thats what its there for, for transactions) unfortunately there are some new members that pay their subscription and start selling straight away. Its a case of buyer beware, similar to ebay, check feedback and if unsure post a thread and ask.

To be honest, bad transactions a few and far, its only recently there has been an issue which has brought this to the forefront of peoples feelings.

Maybee I am taking this a bit far, I guess I am just trying to bring the peace of mind factor to buyers but there will always be the people who go out their way to take money and send nothing. Kinda sad really.

ime thinking along the lines of members sending parcels 1st by recorded post and if the buyer is happy with goods then pay;)..As far as having details of addresses stored with the club then thats a no go as at the end of the day any transaction between 2 partys has nothing to do with the club..If on the other hand i see a wrong doing from a deal gone bad i will do my best to find a solution BUT i always see a suspension of a membership as a very last resort as then its ten times harder for the inocent party to get a result.
