Hello folks.:helpsmilie:

Quite a while back a seen this zed up for sale and was due to go see it when back home from work, then it went for 4k.

I had photos of the car sent to be then and it looked really really nice, nice bright red. Looks now to have dulled, not as attractive, i phoned the chap and he says its just not been washed in the photos, also that he doesnt have any of its service history.:glare:

Anyways, spoke to him about it claims theres no rust, no vibrations, no engine knocks etc etc. Not much off an add but i am only intrested as i had previously seen that car and liked it.

what do use think?

well I wont bother trying then!!!!:sleep1:

But IMO you all look like "wannabe medallion men" driving about in your "oh so eighties" targa cars:thumbdown:

but maybe you all secretly had Escrot Cabrios in your previous lives.:whistling:

:rofl::rofl:

:ban:

i personally think targa tops is the way to go,,,as all new cars are goin for the panoramic roof look, well for an eighties/nineties car its got it all if not alot more..

with black gloss cross panels on the roof u got that modern day look on a classic/retro vehicle.

targa all the way.

ok we did not have mutch chance this year but next year is going to be a heat wave..LOL take it from me.

sod air con just lift the roof out.but go for a car with good history.think mine was a 8 hour round trip so dont let it put you off.

nah Peter..use my mk1 transit with sliding doors for that malarky and hang my throttle leg out to look as hard as i can:winkiss:

LOL!!!

What worries me about that scenario is the fact that I lived down Essex way in the seventies(next door in Suffolk) and blokes did drive their trannies around with the door open:scared:

:rofl: so you read the the scenario i was constructing..1st generation white van man:wink:

For that sort of money you should be looking for a full history and a damned sight more info on the car. I understand it may be selling for offers now but you have to wonder why.

You can tell a lot from how someone advertises their car - If he had a really great car, don't you think he would be shouting about it.

I have bought and sold A LOT of cars in my time and wouldn't touch this one with a ten foot pole. Steer clear.

You could probably get a deal on this:

I know its an auto, but you can always get that changed in the future. (I did)

I went 200 miles down to deepest darkest cornwall to get my car and have enjoyed every day since. This is a big purchase for most people and you need to want to put in the leg work to get a goodun'!!

at the end of the day how bad do you want one ?

you might have to go a long way to get a good one but thats only one day out of your life LOL.

you just have to put it down to do i want a good car.do i trust them and have i got the cash.the fun you get out of a good 300zx is BIG FUN and well worth it.

that bottom one is viniboys from off this very forum, nice enough car

I have the cash sitting waiting for any zed that may come up, i suppose im just waiting for the right one. I would be willing to travel again aslong as everything ticketed my boxes.

If you assume that all cars will have at least one minor engine/tx fault and somewhere minor rust or accident damage you'll be about right!

The best you can do is avoid the ones that have had major accidents and/or have trouble that stops you using it.

The one or two that genuinely have nothing wrong with them are extremely rare and would be priced accordingly!

Good luck though!

I'd say the best is to look for a well maintained shell, as the mechanical defects are part of the fun of the zed!

I've had three zeds so far and each time been caught out with a duff body.

Get them up on a ramp would be my one bit of advice!

They have rotted at some point though as you stated that you've had the sills done - which is kind of my point.

Thats a good price and a very nice car. (bump)

It's nice to see you've spent the time and money to restore it which if your after a bargain is the perfect thing to look for if you just want to enjoy a car opposed to get involved with it. The car is only as good as the treatment its received and the money spent on it in terms of maintenance.

I intend to have another zed - they where forward thinking and advanced for their time, but are of their time, in terms of materials and are still flawed in bits of the design but i guess thats why i love them, gives it character like kiera knightly have nothing up front or that nigella woman been just a little bit creepy!

my advice pal is go for a newer spec, not only will it be in better condition especially if its a freshy but will stand out from the rest as majority are 95 or older.

best of luck pal and hope you loacter her soon....

Unusually wise words from our man in Tel Aviv/Bradford;)

I would avoid buying anything that has been in the UK for more than3/4 years. So that rules out all UK cars and all early imports.
