hi everyone, the standard rear spoiler on my car has been removed and replaced with a carbon fibre fin (not to my taste) looks like it belongs on a f1 car, whoever did this has also removed the perspex strip aswell, now i thought it wud just be a case of putting the standard spoiler back on aswell as the perspex strip, but iv seen quite a few spoilers that seem to cover over were the perspex strip wud be, and also a few were the car has both on, can anyone help me by telling me if i need both or just the spoiler please? the cars a 93 tt fairlady import, iv only had her a week and as yet dont really now much about them except ther bloody quick! thanks very much.

if you want the oem spoiler for your model you wont need a perspex strip... only the later models require perspex strips. though of course there is nothing stopping you from fitting a late spec spoiler. the are quite a few options available for spoilers (3 types of oem and many aftermarket) so get googling to find what suits your taste best :D

With the stock (pre 1995) spoiler there is no perspex strip; the spoiler covers the whole area like my car below. I have the fibre glass replica one (see Z Centre) as the foam one gets waterlogged over time.

If you fit either the 1995 (see Steve300zx's old car) or 1999 (see FunkySi's car) JDM spec spoiler then you'll need to buy the strip. Again this is available from The Z Centre.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

95 spec spoiler below in my sig with new perspex strip was about £60 fron nissan

ps mines actually a 93 as I remember but 95 spec

will it be a perfect replica?.. the z centre one can be spotted mile off...

It will be indeed. well as best as you can get with grp. I will be taking a mould off a genuine spoiler once i get it and finished all the prep work :)

ps..speacial rates and ile loan you mine for a week or two;);):D

Whats the story when the original spoiler is removed - is there paint underneath or does it all need a respray afterwards?

paint underneath matey, with a double sided sticky strip across the upper part (closet bit to the window) two clips on either end on the narrow long bits, and threaded studs around the out side edge that protrude into the boot lid.

Once off, you need to clean the boot lid, and take the sticky stuff off, if your going for a non spoiler look, fill and primer the holes, sand down with 1000 sand paper, making sure there are no humps or edges, prime, paint and lacquer

Car.Mad spoiler is ready just need to get my misses and the new one home then shes all yours (spoiler not the misses lol), sorry for the delay.

PS, this is the guide i used

I dont have the ones in my sig any more i have the vs ones but the smoother ones without the vent :)

If you could send me yours down that would be amazing :sorcerer:

Plazma, if you want to know what it looks like see here. i took mine off to put a new one on.

Thanks richie, I think mine might have had a respray over the spoiler and tailgate meaning there is likely to be a lip where the two meet, will check it out when I go out to the car :)

Okay Mate, dunno if i've asked you (memory problems from drugs abuse!!!) but where abouts in Herts are you (WGC rings a bell)

I'm in sunny Hemel Hempstead - I'm guessing you know the area quite well?

It's the place where no other Zx's exist!!
