if i pull the old cats off and fit decats is there and lamda sensors to worry about, or what about the heat wires that go to under the seats? nothing is easy is it lol

Featured Replies

The Lamda (or O2) sensors are much further up the exhaust, so no problem there. The cat temp sensors can be unscrewed and pushed back up the holes under the carpet. I blanked the holes up with rubber grommet type things.

does the ecu not require the temp sensors to be in the exhaust? and how far up the exhaust are the lambdas then cos the de cats go right up to the turbos dont they.

no, they go right up to the turbo elbows, where the O2 sensors live

so the ecu doesnt mind the heat sensors flapping about under the car?

o2 sensors are in the bay yea.

on the downpipe/turbo elbows.

in regards to the cat temp sensors, ive seen them on other peoples, but where do they go after the cat and where do they plug into/whats the point?

where do they go? into the car under the seats, then where do they go? surely they must go somewhere? or are they for diagnostics?

The leads connect to a control box next to the handbrake and under the console. They go from there to the main loom and cat temp warning light as jimmer says.

The cat sensors only register temp and trigger the warning light. To the best of my knowledge they are not connected directly to the ECU.

turbo seals yeah i heard about if the turbos are weak the decat will finish them off, im sure a couple of turbos second hand wont cost the earth will they

well they wont cost more than a couple of cats cos mine are hangin off, you can only weld a weld so many times lol

are the cat temp sensors basically the same thing as an aftermarket EGT set-up?
