Hi guys.

Right well as you all know im scrapping the car.

But the plate on it i think will be worth abit of money aswell, MIL 5429.

So im wondering, how do i get this off the car and keep it in retention for mysefl to then sell on?

The car has not mot no tax and no insurance and i havent sent the v5 away to say its being scrapped yet, so can i still get the plate off the car and if i can how?

I must have missed something, your scrapping Stella's old car ??!

And as Si has said over and over no mot no plate, thats for sure, i know people with really old cars that have plates on worth thousands but cannot transfer as the car is beyond economical repair.

Yeh i lost A3 OOY on my old 300zx, i didnt realise that you needed the car to be mot'd to transfer the plate and i had already stripped it LOL

Yup, Mr. Bean ruined the engine for him and corrosion ruined the body. Jeff posted up a thread with lots of photos of the underside which was in seriously poor state of decay, but for some reason, that thread has been removed. On the basis of this, Craig has now decided to cut his losses. :(

has it:confused: never even noticed!

Wonder when it will stop getting refered to as stellaz car.lol. Suppose im h appy for my name not to be tagged with it then.lol!

FPMSL..wonder what reason was in it for deleting that thread, why remove it and hide it.lol!

it was deleted because it had run its course and in the end producing nothing but trouble;)

seen me mate today and si is right!:) he took it off his old car and has paid to have it on retention (think thats the term) until he put it on car he has now.

Understand. Shame it had to be deleted though.

FunkySi, whist you are correct that it is probably not financially viable to put the plate on a retention certificate (you are correct when you say it is an old NI plate though the MILS theory might hold true) because that in itself is going to cost £80 to do. I don't think Craig will have a problem if he applies for a SORN and has the previous MOT and lets the DVLA know that he intends to scrap the vehicle. They would probably be fine with him retaining the plate then (I did a very similar thing with another car not so long back).

At that point it is at the DVLA's discretion.

I just don't know if you will actually make any money from it but it's worth a punt!!
