Ok once again my car is back on my drive on axle stands seems to be something that happens weekly. This time i have a knocking noise from my engine. Quick histroy with this i upped the boost preasure too 15psi. I took it for a spin and ohh man it was great. I pulled up in a bus stop and notice a slight noise turned engine off and on and it was gone.

I started the drive back home and the noise was getting worse, pulled up again and its coming from the right side of the engine. I looked at the oil preasure gauge and its at 0 then it went back up slightly and it dosnt get passed the first positive line, even when driving.

Any ideas here guys i really cant afford a rebuild.

I cant beileve the engine is dead just like that, i refuse to beileve it. Im gonna dump the oil tomorrow and check the filter if it has no metal bits in it im gonna take the top off and check the lifters and cam. Its deffinatley coming from the top of the engine.

My last words just before i put a hole in my oil pan, mush room cloud like a nuke had gone off, oil trail down the road and in need of a new engine, the noise that is making, you honestly think its going to be something other than conrods / Bigends?

to be honest an engine may have been on its way out and upping the boost gave it that final push, mine sounded like it was tappets, it wasnt till my bro in law removed the coil packs one at a time that i realised it was deffo bottom end

it did sound very nasty in your vid

Unfortunately, sounds like you bought a complete nail judging by your other threads. How much did you pay for it?

i`m not saying there not but at a rolling road you can find out if the engine is healthy to start with.i`ve learnt the hard way and its not nice.

You do not need an RR to know whether the engine is healthy or not! RR is good for optimum mapping, but it is in no way essential what so ever if you're only upping the boost to 14/15PSi.

The best and easiest way to check if an Engine is healthy is to hook up conzult to it. You'll have a much better idea of what ALL the sensor are doing and if everything is set up correctly.

Well thanks for the advice although i find it odd that my oil preasure went to 0? I mean is it possible that the oil pump is shot and oil isnt getting to the upper parts of the engine?

No oil pressure can be a result of no oil in the engine, excess bearing clearances (worn/spun bearing shells), worn out/defective oil pump, or a erroneous reading from a bad sender unit. Can probably discount the last one. That engine is more than just a top end rattle. Will need a complete rebuild. There's some serious damage there.

well seen as you asked FunkySi yes this car has given me some ball ache. Lets see i picked it up for £900 it started making weird noises on the way home then the auto box went, lost reverse and D gave me grinding noises.

Got a recon box off here for £200 and its been spot on since saying that ive had some noises only mild mind you which i thought was the centre bearing off the prop which is pretty much on the way out.

I then got in touch with John Dixon about a ecu upgrade he did that this saturday he sugested we fitted the tips at his house and tbh im glad he couldnt find any lol as id probably would have needed my car recovered by the AA. On sunday a mate of mine was going to B&Q i went with him and seen some 0.8mm tips i thought *****x ill get them lets have some fun later. Fitted them and for first 5 mins was great fun then my engine ****ed up.

Anyway right now im drunk and just wanna go to sleep will decded what to do in the morning im tempeted just to buy a car cover and just leave it.

£900? Jesus! No wonder you're having problems!

Good luck with it whatever you end up doing? Next time, it's advisable starting off with 1.2mm tips and working your way down from there! Starting off at 0.8mm isn't a great idea. 0.8mm can give you up to 17PSi (plus spiking!) dependant on compression/turbo condition. You don't really want to be pushing over 14.5PSi really on a stock engine.

Before my car was chipped it was health checked with cozult, test driven and had a visible inspection. If Jeff thought the car was no good to up the boost then it would of not been done and advice would of been given.

My car is chipped and jetted with out a RR and its fine.
