Ive had the zed for a few months now, and its been in the family for a good few years. Never even hinted at a problem before, been perfect in every way... Then today out of the blue at 60 theres a bang and some horrible crunching sound and loss of power. Seems like overdrive is completely gone as is reverse... and 1st and 2nd make the crunching noise :(

Looks like its not going anywhere in a hurry now, what are my options??

My thread does not relate to you "terry", only to my experience in the past with "so-called" 300zx mechanics that has carried out work on my zed.

No offence mean't or intended matey. Just good, sound advise for peeps on here.

i thought that people might be thinking im trying to earn money

i aint a z specialist, theirs loads i dont know about them,

i am a mechanic by trade,

i have quite a good work shop which is owned by family with three 2 post ramps a 4 post ramp and a full length pit which makes life a lot easier,

i even changed both turbos their and people say their hard, was fiddly but not as bad as i thought it would be,

if you had a bad experiance you have the right to warn people mate,

anyway lets all just hope he gets it sorted lol

when i first got my z it was running like a dog, so found a z specailist in swindon, borowed a trailor to get it their [3 hours drive], they said they had diagnostics to put it on when got their, said diagnostics wasnt working so they found air leak and sorted it, then they spent about 5 hours fiddling with cas to set timing without using light,

and throttle posistion sensor without volt meter and charged about £500 which if they had diagnostics would have took 5 mins,

and to top it my mates mondeo broke what towed trailor so had to drive a rougher z then to start with home and lost hes car with trailor what cost me another few hundread quid. bloody cars i hate them, just their so much fun when they work.

You seem like a very honest chap, matey. Unlike some on here..
