want to do an MOT asap but my drivers side O2 sensor is lazy. been told its better when warm but there is always the possibility of failing.

is there anything i can do to get it through MOT? some people reckon it could still pass, other say to unplug second O2 sensor and the ecu will try to give it an average reading in its place and others say to undo a pipe on the balance bar. ooooohhhh errrrrr.

 

is it hard to change an O2 sesor on the driver side?

O yes its a pig of a job to do.

 

I would just take the pipe of the balance bar. Then when you have time is to do the o2 sensor :)

you'll find the Z32 is non cat test (even if you have cats) so lambda is not an issue they cant fail you for that...tell your testers to check in the MOT book if in doubt

ahhh i always thought it was a seperate test than the cats test.

you must be talking about the CO readings fail, the pipe you pull off can pass the test in most cases IIRC its off the balance bar drivers side, there was a write up on here somewhere...do a search bud i'm sure its been posted before

the Z is not subject to the cat test, but your emissions still need to be under 3.5% on the CO level.

 

 

if you overfuel, it puts the CO level up.

 

 

the o2 sensors control the fuel/air mixture.

 

 

you can unplug the pipe on the fuel dampner (on the drivers side of the engine) and that lowers the CO level,

 

but depends how much over on the CO level you are, to find out if removing the pipe will get it down to under 3.5%
