All 3 of my cars could do with being re treated. (the FTO has nothing just bare metal :( )

What is this stuff like is it just spray on and job done. I wanted to do all in the wheel arches, wish bones and the underneath etc.

Would it be safe to do the wheel arches as they are just bare matal on the fto??

Here is a link to the kit http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WAXOYL-under-body-wax-sealant-2-5lt-Sprayer-kit-CLEAR_W0QQitemZ290358456675QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Body_Shop_Supplies_Paint?hash=item439ab67163&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

This is taken off there site :)

"What is the difference between Waxoyl and DINITROL?

DINITROL is a wax which dries to leave a cured soft outer layer where as Waxoyl is a mixture of wax and oil which never cures and continues to be liquid even after many months."

So is this simular to the rubbery stuff that is already on most cars??

Can it be put on by a brush or spray only??

Cheers :)

...i see the FAQ now....quite honestly i cant fault the stuff...for big jobs i'd use the above company as they can put it up in the air and do all the bits you might miss on your driveway

:rofl: sound like its going to be fun :wack:

Whats the cavity

inside door panels rear quarters etc....you know the voids you find under the external bodywork...might have to drill small holes and then plug them after spraying...call them for a guide on how to

i would steer lwell clear of waxoil for cavity wax. bilt humber or ditrinol for cavity wax. DO NOT USE UNDERSEAL. stone chip is probobly the best stuff for uner wheel arches but iff you are dealing bare metal i would use a zink primer then a coat of top coat the some stone chip.

Can't literally be bare metal can it? Would have rusted away long ago.

It is on the FTO. well there is paint on it but thats your lot :(

They were an import only as were the evo 5 so i wonder if there the same

Actually started the front of my car today with Dinitrol after it was suggested on earlier threads. I've only sprayed the rust converter on today and will do the first coat of underseal hopefully tomorrow. I bought a kit from http://www.rust.co.uk who were very helpful ;)

Vijay

just done mine last week with waxoil.best stuff mate.i have used it on all my jap imports.its a shit job but well worth it.

you can but its hard work and will take forever.i sprayed mine on in about 1/2 hour.but i had a compressor and all the kit.still had to thin it down with thinners.its the best way and you can get a good covering.

I have a compressor, thinners and spray gun so guess thats going to be the way forward. I was just thinking I did not want to paint over brake pipes and bushes as that could be an MOT faliure.

I used underseal er under the car...lol...and waxoyl on all the cavities, stand the tubs of underseal in boiling water for a while, makes spraying very very easy and a neat finish too ;)

Waxoil/Tetraseal - It's good to brush it on thick - then use a mini foam roller to tidy it up - looks like it's been sprayed on after that. I used a couple of packs of mini rollers from the 99p shop - worked well - looked good.

If its the underside of the car thats being done then you want body schutz, stone chip guard or underseal, but treat any rust first. ideally you want to remove any rust then paint the bare metal with a good quality rust preventative paint before applying the final layer of protection.

If its enclosed areas like sills or other box sections then its a cavity wax you are looking for. As has already been said I would steer clear of Waxoyl. Bilt Hamber, Dinatrol and Rust Bullet are the recommended ones as far as I can tell.

Best thing to do is to do a search of some of the classic car forums, plenty of tips advice and recommendations.

Best off doing this job in the heat of the summer as the product will creep better into the flitches and cavities. Not the best time to do it now really.

Did my car a couple of years ago with Waxoyl. What i did was stand the car on axle stands. Put a tescos carrier bag over each brake, and taped up closed. Brought some of that thin polythene dust sheets. Lay that under the car and taped the sides to the side skirts of the car ( to stop fine particles of the waxoyl getting every where). You can buy it in a pump up tub. The trick i found was to have a heat gun heating up the waxoyl really hot. The wife would keep pumping the pressure and holding the heat gun on the tin while i sprayed. This creates a liquid fine spray that does get everywhere. You can build up some decent layers that when cool look really tidy. If you spray it cold its like trying to spray baby poo.

The only thing to bear in mind is afterwards when you drive the car, some waxoyl may have got on the turbos and will smoke, it will burn off.

the dinitrol stuff is very easy to use / apply a lot less faffing about than waxoil it would seem to me.
