Hi all, to get the rear lights apart I need to heat them up, I cant find a heat gun or a hair dryer at the minute.

Im sure I read somewhere that you can put them in the oven... Is this correct???

Some have done it this way yes, i would try and find the thread though or speak to someone who has done it that way, i've heard some have soaked the lights in a very hot bath but again i'd want more info lol

heat gun is the best option i'd say if you can source one

also just to prepare you I think the stuff is bitumen based so can be removed from hands/ clothes and everything else it decides to adhere to using meths

you can balence them on the top of the open oven door . but you have to stand there and watch them, as you dont want melted lights now do you!

I did mine by putting them in the oven :) but them in a pre heated oven at 180 Deg and keep a check on them. Take then out when they are just a bit to hot to hold comfortably. You may need to keep putting them back in every minute or so and work the lense off slowly.

I did my last set with a heat gun and managed to fook them up, but that was my fault really, not taking enough time.

This lot i have just done i used the oven. I used a low heat and whacked each unit it for a few minutes and then slowly prise them apart a little bit. Then chuck em in again for a minute or two and then they come apart pretty easy. Just take your time and make sure they get a fair bit of heat.

If i were to do it again i'd do it with the heat gun again as i think i have devised a pretty good method tbh.

Be cautious with the oven method, you don't want them ending up like these ones...

Also, if useing the oven method, cover the black sticky stuf with greeseproof paper, that way you wont get it on everything!!

bird, where did you get your pinstripe and ( I assume ) 99 spec-look rear lense parts?

they were self adhesive pmsl

phew!! could have been a roight fook up there then LOL.

gentle heating around the outside on the sticky stuff and gentle constant and equal pressure gets them together.
