September 30, 200916 yr I'm planning to replace my wiring loom, i have done a manual conversion, should i buy a manual or automatic loom? Will it matter? Also, who can i buy one from in the UK? And roughly how much? Cheers....... Tudor.
September 30, 200916 yr you dont need a new loom. (unless you just wana replace yours) people will say you need an automatic loom, as your car is an auto. however its only the EFI loom youd be getting, which is the manuals & autos are the same, think they just have 1 or 2 extra bits on the auto. but its fine you just dont plug them in (as u have nowhere to plug them lol) ive done Auto manual conversion, just left my auto loom in there
September 30, 200916 yr I do not think you can buy them in the UK anymore so it would be the USA and with the Dollar Pound being grim you would be talking about £350 plus shipping.
September 30, 200916 yr yea know they are expensive, do you really need a whole new loom? the conenctors do get corroded, but i think it would be cheaper to jsut get new connectors (the injector ones mainly) Zedwizz on here sells them
September 30, 200916 yr The green 'gundge' on the electrical connectors can be cleaned off, but it's not alway 100% successful, you can also changed various connectors for either the same reason or because of the plastic going brittle. BUT the main reason for changing a full loom is simple because it's anything up to 20 years old and will probably be heat damaged by now and very brittle. Moving it around a lot can crack the individual cores within the loom, then you're going to have loads of problems!! Also, don't forget that if you buy one from the US they are ALL lefthand drive looms, so the ECU end will be the wrong side! This isnt a big problem simply because the 'tail' will go to the correct side for us, but will be quite a bit longer than is required, so you'll have to hide it somewhere!! HTH Dave
September 30, 200916 yr i wish i had a new loom when i did my engine swap, as the looms do get corroded badly. i sorted it with new connecrtors though :)
