13 seconds? My 1.2 Fiat Punto used to do it in 9.5 secs! Standard, and very well looked after, but running without an air filter

Down a very steep hill maybe!

My Z32 is almost standard, and it left an E46 M3 for dead at a rolling start from about 85mph to some very high speeds, on the same run it also just beat a mates derestricted SL55 again to silly speeds, by the way there was 4 of us in the 300 too. with lots of witnesses..........lol

erm the M3 maybe. but an SL55? i dont often say it but that is a load of BS and is even laughable with the fact that your car was loaded with 4 of you.

The SL55 is a beast of a car that will hand many cars its ass to them including the ZX and M3 with ease. They have so much torque

and not to mention 500bhp. to my surprise as iv seen first hand, a gallardo (early model) has trouble keeping up with a E55 which is slower than the SL

sounds like porkies to me.

Have to agree with this - an SL55 will whip the ass of ANY "almost standard" ZX TT; along with the vast majority of modified ones:rolleyes:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

How did you manage to fit 4 in

I'm 6'1, the g/f's nearly 6', both her friends are nearly as tall + we all got in the zed without too much aggro. So a zed is a practical car.

Oh, alright i Did have the wheel rubbing my legs+ the passengers heads bumping on the roof.lol.

That sounds about right

Well maybe my car is not as standard as I think it is, there were at least 20 witnesses who were also gobsmacked, it went like this, at least 10 reasonably quick cars were playing silly buggers, the SL55 edged out ahead of the pack and I followed, to my surprise as he would not get out of the way and seemed to be flat out I switched lanes undertook him and slowly edged ahead, the driver and everybody present appeared to be in a state of shock when we stopped for petrol, we had a few more races there and back and whilst the 300 could not leave the SL55, the SL55 it did not have the power to overtake me either.

And there were two adults and two children in the car as another mate had just blown his Cosworth so hitched a ride, his son is a very heavy teenager, my daughter is a flyweight but all the same he had a weight advantage.

Whilst we are on the subject of space I have had up to 7 people in a Z32 many years ago, it was a tight squeeze but we managed.

To all the disbeleivers that is your problem, I do not have to fib about this especially as the Z32 happens to be one of my slowest good cars.

By the way I also had a race with a DB9 and again up to some very serious speeds it could not gain on me either.

It is simple, some would say that the other drivers bottled out but when you are driving at those speeds on a clear stretch of Autobhan .....;-) and another car appears to be racing you you could hardly not be going for it.

And I am perfectly aware of the kind of power and torque the SL55 makes which is why we were all so surprised.

Thats not very clever is it

at speed is were the SL55 comes into its own and if pulling off at say 60 or even 100, thats were you aint see which way it went at speed.

this get even more ridiculous to me that you've had 7 people in a zed before aswell, and doing them sort of speeds with children...hmmmm, but anyways...

your friends SL55 must have had his handbrake on, or have very serious issues especially if it is de-restricted which im assuming its 'supposed' to be remapped

Personally i don't really care what car mine is going to beat, as long as it wipes the smile off all the wannabes with there tricked out fiesta's / saxo's [insert stupid looking body kit with over sized exhaust on a small engined car - here]

I never even waste my petrol against those cars.lol!

Would rather save it for something nice in my town like the new evo thats appeared

Chances are they they sit up your arse anyways to get you to floor it.

yeah ive doen it once to a saxo vtr, which was hilarious.lol. As he tried to boot it away with his bird in the car.

But now i just easy let them o past with ease as i dont care.lol. Its just unlucky for them if they are about and i plan on having a heavy foot for abit. I most certainly wouldnt go out trying to race a saxo tho.lol.

I find it incredible that you lot think the SL55 is that much faster than a Z32tt manual

The facts are simple....

Z32tt weighs about 3500lbs

SL55 4350lbs

Power

Z32tt approx 335bhp estimate based on exhaust, decat and intake mod.

SL55 500bhp

Meaning power to weight ratios

Z32tt 215 bhp / ton

SL55 257bhp / ton

Bearing in mind I expect to do 13.5 secs to the 1/4 mile

and I expect him to be able to do it in 12.7

That gives a difference of .7 of a sec

And when you see cars racing on the strip that both appear to cross the line together and yet one has done it almost 2 secs quicker you will see how easy it is to appear to be as fast as another car that should only be .7 of a sec quicker over the 1/4 mile

Moreover the SL55 has been tested at between 4.2 and 4.9 to 60

And the Z32tt between 5.3 and 5.6

And you can see that even a slightly tweaked Z32 should be just under 5secs which will compare with a slower SL55, add to that a car that might not be running 100% even though the owner thought it was and it should not surprise anybody that a Z32 was able to just overtale an SL55..........

e-peen wars lol.

Its a quicker car, even your specs show that + you had 4 people in it (ok 2 were children), as stated, it also costs a lot more than a Z, He is obviously taking it a bit easy on you, not everyone wants to risk crashing such an expensive motor just to prove a point, or may be he sat there after noticing the fact you had children in the car, and though, "well if i push it, hes just going to drive faster trying to beat me, putting them children at more risk" so laid of the gas a little.

I once fit 12 twix in my mouth....true story.

this is so much jokes.

exactly as said above, your stats still show the SL55 to be faster and asides from that real world performance as we know can far differ from the specs. Like iv said, i have experienced what these cars are like at speed and rolling starts, and when remapped there's not really much that gets in the way of them, there is power at any gear at any speed, which is also down to torque curve the supercharger gives. i know what beast the Zx can be but im sure myself and most owners here know when we are abit out of our league when comparing the performance of other very fast cars

So out of curiosity what are the exact specs of you ZX?

i beat a veyron once.

how can a car with 350bhp be faster at high speed than a 500bhp car if they have a similar Cd?

at 150mph a zed will have approx 125 bhp to accelerate it the merc 300!!

fool

you forgot to add the weight of 4 peeps he had in the zed:D

off topic random question anyone got a set of coilovers for sale?

....no:nono:
Guys,

Does it really matter what is faster than what?

Exactly - Well said Pervez, the perfect post on which to end this thread, I think.

Now that it's run it's course I am closing it.
