As it failed the mot we have been working on it.

First it failed on the rear fog, it has had the rear reverse light wired as a fog but it just lights up both reverse lights and not very bright so took it all out and blanked off the top reverse light so its much brighter now and you cant tell its been blanked out so thats one job done.

Second was to do a boost leak test, can hear a big leak coming from the passenger side low down, couldnt see it so could be near the turbo??

Worse fail was it has a split on the passenger side inner arch?? not sure how its happened, doesnt look like its been in a crash so not sure if someone has hit something hard and its gone but the original weld has gone so we tried to weld it up but the welder is having an off day LOL so need a new welder now

Its detting at higher boost so checked the timing and it was advanced slightly but not a huge amount, tbh i was expecting it to be highly advanced but was only around 17 tdc so put it back to 15.

Also fit new a few bits i got the other day ie new boot carpet, cardboard and spare wheel, fit the new nose panel and now ran out of time as the footie is on shortly and mikey bean should be around prestons way on them m6 with some more goodies for my car including my 99 spec front :D

i thought the carbon canister could cause minor boost leaks aswell

yeh it can as its part of the pressure system but its easy enough to remove :)

Another update :)

I'm a dick :p

2 stupid moments on the 300 so far

First removed the jap kendwood double din stereo and fitted a jvc mp3 player which i was given but came with no loom, anyway found a look in the loft which fit it but wasnt the correct plug for the car so had to cut it to splice it in, easy you would think yes??? nothing i havnt done a hundred times but this time i cut the wrong end and cut the wires on the terminal that fits into the stereo back :nelson::smw: i was happily snipping wires until i realised LOL

Anyway after having to pop all the connectors out of the terminal block and solder them all on...again all is well and i now have a uk stereo :D

and for my next stupid moment.

my car had a big boost leak on the passenger side, was pi55ing out so over the last few weeks i have removed all the pipework to see where its coming from and nothing? so presumed it was the manifold or turbo to manifold gasket as it sounds like its coming from there.

So had another go a few days ago, plugged the boost leak detector in and pressurised the system with my dads stupidly big compressor and again hissing from that side so i'm under the car feeling around and cant feel anything :( then i press the dipstick in harder and the boost leak detector pops off LOL i do think i had a leak from down there but possibly fixed it when messing but i asked my dad how much pressure he was putting through the system and it was something silly so no wonder it was leaking :nana2:

So no more leaks for me, just need to change the o2 sensor now and the car is pretty much done apart from a good service :)

Sounds like you've been having car repair lessons from Mikey Bean!

Glad it's coming along. :)

Another little job today :)

Fitted a mines adjustable fuel pressure regulator with gauge

I did have a braided fuel kit on but i didnt want to chop into it and possibly wreck it so sold that and for the time being just fitted standard fuel line.

So set it up to the oem fuel pressure of 43.4 psi and all it well :)

Then i got rained off..................again

Not doing too much tomorrow, just boxing a few bits up that are sold ready for posting on monday then its out for several beers to watch the match and possibly stay out to make a night of it :hyper:
