I was helping a friend replace his vacuum lines today (JAP TT) and we found some strange stuff lol.

 

The solenoids on either side above the actuators that have three vacuum lines in each - are any of those lines meant to have restrictors in them!!!

 

This is the Passenger side...

All in all we found this lot in the wastgate actuator lines:

2 in the lines to the throttle bodies and two in the intercooler pipes to the front???

 

The picture shows the actuator lines that the small jets were in..

 

 

 

What the.....

There is one of those little *uggers missing...

Now I know that the jets in the throttle body vacuum lines are in the right place - they are meant to be there but what about the others?

 

Anyone seen this before?

looks like a cheap boost upgrade using mig welding tips to me.

Eh yeah - but I found 8 tips - not just the two I expected!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welding tips are fine as boost jets - why would they not be btw?

The ones on the left are stock.They are fitted in the wastegate lines from new.The mig tips are extras.

the left/drivers side vacuum from the TB goes to the AIV/EGR

 

and the right/passanger vacuum from the TB goes to the carbon canister?

OK - I have restored this setup to stock and achieved the standard 7psi boost - then added .045 jets and getting about 14psi - which I believe is about right.

Foe those guys that have replaced all of their vacuum tubing (therefore removing the stock wastgate solenoid restrictors) - and are now stuck at 7psi boost - now you know why ;-))

I dont have AIV/EGR/Carbon cannister or any of that crap - it's deleted sir. :eek:
