Has any body tried doing this and would it be cost effective?? Or would I be better spaying it the pearl yellow it already is?? (which I really am not keen on) any other ideas??

wanna do it a similar colour to what it is as it saves having to spray the engine bay and bits

I suppose it boils down to what your plans are.

If you are doing it to sell, then a non-stock colour will shrink the no. of buyers, but possibly put the price up a little.

Stock yellow will sell easier and looks really good when freshly done.

I'm selling it, just want it to look as good as possible. And I aint to keen on it, has anyone got a picture of a car in a good pearl yellow??

There was a guy on here who sprayed their car matt black. He had it done proberly i believe.

Allot of people slated the car however i thought it looked sweet, drifter come track car look.

If you are attempting to sell the car then anything other than the original colour WILL reduce its saleability and narrow the markrt as already said.

Painting it stock is best.

However painting a whole car in pearl Yellow is going to be a VERY expensive process. Remember all pearls are a 3 stage process. 1. Coloured base

2. Pearls coat

3 laquer.

That is after you have primed everything.

It will be 3 times more expensive as a solid 2K cos you need to buy 3 lots of paint.

Also your preparation is really tedious for pearls and candies as they dont hide/cover as well as 2K solid colours.

And it will be hard to sell cos pearl yellow is a rare colour choice. IMO
