One Moody Zed

A bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' type of question this but thought I'd give it a go.

Having had the Z for a coupleof months now, I've noticed that it has OFF and ON days.

On an ON day, it is smooth as silk, refined and well sorted. Drives very sweetly.

On an OFF day, the engine sounds gruff, the gearbox seems to clunk between changes, and the car vibrates at speed. Generally, it doesn't sound or feel healthy.

As far as I can tell, there is no relationship to the weather (i.e. damp/dry/hot) and no relationship to it being cold or warmed up.

Any ideas what it could be?

The performance is about the same in both moods.

Mine seems to run great all the time! :) Faster when it's cooler is the only thing.....which is normal. But it'll be running even better next week with new chip and 14PSi under my right foot! :)

Yours gets used about 3 times a month and thats in summer time!!!

Gets used every weekend in the summer if it's sunny and also in the evenings. Been out in it today, out in it tomorrow and all weekend. :)

Mine used to be on and off when I first got it back on the road after 3 years, but now it behaves itself pretty well. Its probably down to old wiring or gunged up connectors, they can be very tempremental with no set patterns.

Better come pick me up then mate before i completely lose intrest in my Zed

sounds like a missfire issue,- an Intermittent break in the loom, corroded connections or a PTU breaking down - will cause engine to feel rougher and sound rougher, with vibration as you drive.
