Gotta say, after all the cars I've been looking at including all sorts of other makes and models, that white one is the first car that I've really really liked and can't see a reason to not like.

The engine swap makes me worry about the black one.

Same sort of price. Is it to be 1999 spec or much earlier white one but great spec and smashing example. Hmmmm.

More info on the black one:

The engine was indeed changed by ourselves, previous to us fully maintaining the owner car had a "mate" change his cambelt and water pump unfortunately the water pump was a very poor copy and failed whilst he was on the motorway and overheated the engine, the subsequent internal damage left it was more cost effective to replace the engine rather than repair his own.

The trader who sold him the dodgy water pump has since ceased trading amid many complaints etc.

The engine was supplied by us and so items such as the cambelt were all new at that time, so the service schedule for the engine starts from that time and mileage

Hope that helps

well atleast you know the black one is cared for.

But honestly..........TT is the way to go mate, pay the extra cash for a well maintained tt manual and your laughing, if you maintain the car when you have it then you wont have any major problems with it, unless your have and extremely heavy foot every time you drive it

I have a feeling my missus won't like the interior but I love it. I showed her similar colour seats in an M3 the other day and she didn't like them at all.

I'm liking the black one again!

The differing opinions is a hard to fathom out for me.

A guy I know who has a PS13 and was going to buy a 300zx TT was told by all his tuner buddies not to touch a TT because the engine is a nightmare etc etc.

Decisions eh.

Look mate to be honest you keep going on about how terrible TT engine are........when basically they arent unreliable. Only difference is 2 turbos strapped on and as was previously said they are reliable aslogn as you maintain them. Plus you get the feelign of being thrown back into your seat by the power of the car.

Whoever your listening to about 300zx TT's is the wrong people as i guess they have just listened to others and not bought one. Im on my 2nd TT now and love it, dont think i could have an N/A. End of the day dont listen to people going on about TT engines who havent had one or experienced being in one or who are part of a group like this.

Theres rarely any post put up to separate TT's from N/A's on this forum.

I think Legrath has already pointed out the good and bads points of each, yes a TT can be a nightmare, but so can an NA, any 20 year old car can be if its not looked after. My preference is the NA but lots of people would disagree with me.

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to irritate people or come with any opinion, all I know is what I've been told.

It's not everyday I can go and spend a whack of money on a new toy so I just want to get it right.

I appreciate though I can here to ask the advice from the boys on the front line as it were, so I can understand you want me to listen to what is being said by the people who own these cars :-)

Yes I do want the performance but I also just want a car I can enjoy and be proud of.

I would say your irritating anyone buddy.

I understand you have money to play with and want to see whats best to get, im helping my pal out at the moment.

Just sold his supercharged corolla so has a wack of cash to play with. He wanted a scoob but i steered him away from that and got him to go for the skyline r33 GTR. Was going to be that or a ps13.

Either way im sur eyou will get something your happy with.

If you opt for the zed you can enjoy it alot, nothign better on a sunny day with the targas off going a nice long drive on some bendy roads followed by a good straight home:D! Well thats my saying that for a TT as i love the turbos kicking in.lol.

But none the less i maintain the car look after, regular oil changes etc will be carried out.

So if you are going to maint your car then im sure you will be fine but then again you never now, you could by an N/A it could fall to pieces etc etc, same with any car old or new.

Im extremely pround of my TT at the moment, even though its having rebuild work carried out.

The majority of posts on here are from people wanting help with problems so an outsider reading through them could well come up with the impression they are a nightmare and unreliable, its not too often people post up and say how there car is running hitch free, but there are many of us that find the 300zx to be reliable fun and something they are proud of so try not to worry about what may have been said.

i think you will kick yourself later if you go for a na, over a tt.

Having seen this car at Zedworld, a couple of years ago, and from what I can remember, its an NA.

The black one is out, the missus HATES that interior!!

She likes the white one though....

Hi Steve,

Jeff from Zedworld here, I am glad we were able to help you with the info on the black zed, we keep all details on our data base for this very reason.

I can see you a little way from us but if its of any help and you willing to have a little drive out I can show you around 15 + zeds of all types and colours from breaker standard to top quality ones, we do not sell cars but can maybe help you narrow down what it is your looking for and give you some tech tips to help when viewing potential cars.

Oh and get subscribed...you will benefit 100 times more than the fee.

Jeff TT

i would take Jeff up on it mate.

he will put your mind at rest.tbh mate i would go tt.AND dont dont go for a RSK B4 i had one.?

On another note, how easy would it be to swap out the interior from the black zed from that tan leather to black leather? Straight swap job?

Would anyone be interested in swapping their leather for this tan leather?

Jeff, that is a very good offer and if I don't find one very soon, I might just take you up on that, hugely appreciated :-)

Well mate i have black leather, slightly shabby but i would possibly be intrested in a change.

know its a 99 spec,

but £6000 for a NA?

personally, id rarther spend £5000 on a TT Z, for that money youd get a loverly example, maybe 5 years older,

if your that botherd about the rear lights & front bumper you have £500 quid to get them

:)

I'm really liking that white one, just fathoming out if I'd rip the bumpers off on my driveway entrance which has quite a sharp slope to it as you first go up the path.

  • Author

Could do yeah but the looks are a lot of the appeal of it! I know once I got it I'd never change the parts over.

Maybe the best thing is to ask someone I know in that area if they can pop and take a look, go from there :-)

well so you dont get too burnt howsabout you buy a na auto for under £1k..there's a few about....drive it around for a few weeks and if you dont love it then go test drive a TT ...then if you pip for the TT just off the na for what you paid for it :D
