Well it had to happen sometime ! 5 years of trouble free running my second Z and the engine check light finally came on when i started her up. Fan kicked in straight away as well ???? I cant find the thread that shows me how to run a diagnostic check for fault codes. Can someone help please?

Thank you! followed this but no flashing led. It just stays permanently on ?

got it. code 55- no errors. Check engine light now gone, fan stopped. off to test it. most odd.

if the fan was on,

id imagine its the temp sensor,

thinks engine is hot, so runs the fan.

usually code 13, give it a clean, its on the water pipe on the engine

if the car was not actually hot/overheating (you checked temp gauge on dash?) and If the electric auxillery fan thats under the nose panel came on then its a temp sender fault. Clean up the connector and check it still clips firmly on. Its the larger of the two connectors on the top water rad pipe.

Thanks guys, all seems ok now. Temp sensor was a little dirty so cleaned it up- connector is a little broken so may have worked itself a bit loose. Ran diagnostic again and all ok other than left o2 sensor doesnt flash under test so assume it's running lean that side.

Clean the O2 sensor connections - they also get oxide in them and re do it. Also I think you need steady 2000rpm to check it iirc.
