no not 100% mate.

i sprayd some WD40 on the pulley to see, but made no diff.

garage will have a look tomo as its in for MOT.

is it engine out to replace tho? thinking the worst.

may not even be it, just what i suspect

Its not the viscous is it? If it is the power steering pump then you'll probably need to undo the 2 rad brackets and lift the rad out, but its accessible from there.

na its not that kinda bus sound, more of a whining, higher pitched. as long as engine doesnt have to come out to change ok,

il see what garage say tomo.

i don't really understand...

every time you post a problem and then say you have your garage look at it.

are they that thick that they can't come up with a solution or fix themselves ?

I presume you pay them to solve a particular problem ?

... if they can't you need to find a specialist or garage that CAN solve the problem without the owner telling them on how to fix a particular problem.

na its just the car is in for an MOT tomorrow,

and its started making this noise tonight.

just wana know about the pump, should it be that. garage are pritty good, just i like to know about things and try sort it first :)

yea garage advised it is the pump.

it has fluid in there, but its making a whining noise.

they said you can get products to make it quiet?

or do i need a new pump you think.

I'm not an expert but if it's making a noise still when you top the fluid up i'd want to replace it, whatever product it is that can make it quieter is only masking the real problem. I'd hate to be no where near home and have no power steering as it's a heavy car without.

you could try hellfrauds for some power steering additive, but probably gonna be new pump time.

yea think so.

there a guide on replacing? easy job?

hmm ok well i still have this problem.

its been in the garage for an MOT, and they fixed the pump, so it has power steering, but its still making the whine.

theres plenty of fluid in there, and ive bled it.

think the garage said the pipe had a split in it, which they sorted.

would i have damaged the pump itself if it ran dry of fluid? (there was some in there, but dont think it was getting to the pump through the split)
