Hi Damo, don`t bother trying been there some years ago and its a ball ache and the results did not impress, now if you fit 6 x 9`s in the front doors ( easier than its sounds )and a sub in the back you will have a nice balanced sound which can kick ass without spending big bucks.

I'd sooner go for 6.5" components in the doors a sub in the boot and fade the rears out completley IMHO of course. shrek has some 6x9's in his car http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=127497&highlight=abs+cover so it can be done

couldnt agree more... if its sq your after, launch the 6x9s in the bin! get a decent component system up front and ditch the rear speakers altogether... finish off with a decent 10" sub in the boot. once the levels are setup correctly the sound will all come together.

I've got 6x9 's in front 600w(150w rms) and 6x9's 650w(150w rms) rear + 2 x 1300w subs + 3000w, 1200w amp in boot!!! no space for spare wheel!!!

I have fitted 6x9's in my front doors today, the result is amazing! There were 6.5 'ministry of sound' speakers fitted which were hopeless.

Taking about 1.5 hours in all, drilled the spot welds out and removed the outer metal layer, then used the template to mark out the new oval shape then used hand 'nibblers' to cut.

When I lived in the states for a six months, I bought some speakers made by Jensen, which when I did a search on ebay, three sets came up - the ones I bought are rated at 180w Rms and cost £20 inc delivery (new old stock).

Result. I finally have a Zed with worthwhile sound for little effort :hyper:

P.s. I consider it worthwhile removing the fabric in the original speaker trims as it seems to block a fair bit of sound...
