Just got home .. now zed owner, couple small Q's

Just got home from picking up my zed :) :) :)

well pleased with it and big thanks to richard for a great ride out and test drive

got stuck on the m25 for hour and half.. so at least i know it does not overheat...

couple of small Q's

Firstly the auto box had a rebuild last year.. if you hoof it proper hoof it in first it won't change up to 2nd just bounces off the limiter (only let it do that once).. lift off slightly and back on it changes up.. is this normal.. or what???

and slight drinding on front brakes but guess thats where its sat for a while.. will monitor

also a small oil leak.. apparently had it for a long time and does not use hardly any oil.. looks like coming from rear of engine but not been under it yet.. any early ideas??

think thats it for now..

well please lovely drive pulls hard great on motorway. and well pleased as only used 1/4 tank fuel getting home :p

great news on the purchase mate, dont know about the gearbox but the grinding on the brakes might be glazed over, just check to make sure they got some meat left on them tho. need to get it in the air to check the oil leak. if its from the rear could be rear main seal.

binding is often rusty pins.

take the front wheels off, take clips off back of caliper pad pins, pull pins out, clean them up with glass paper/wire brush, reassemble+ then see how free the wheel is.

Hi Pete,

I'm glad you are pleased with the car so far.....;)

I hope it's as reliable for you as it was me (not including the gearbox going bang last year of course).

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Tps ( throttle position sensor ) can cause the 1st to 2nd gear issue, most likely needs adjusting, see if anyone in your area has a ConZult as thats the easiest way to set it up.

r not sure.. maybee yassa knows of somewhere...

sometimes the gearbox feels very.. erm don;t really knwo how to explain it when sitting in gear it feels like its going up and down between 2 gears.... maybee.

i suppose from what you say and previous experience it could easily be the TPS

cheers

cool i'll give them ring to have a look over it..

the gear jumpin between 2 gears is at 49/50mph ..

got some smoke... not a lot not really, cannot tell the colour betwwen white or blue seems more white.. but its only at certain times... when been on a run and just going round my road on tickover it lets a couple of light puffs out. or when it has sat on the drive for a few mins ticking over then go to pull away.... one time it looked a little blue so guess turbo seals may be on there way... but can live with that.. any others ideas??

oh and the car car sat for quite a few weeks before i got it.. so may have somehting to do with it?

checked all coolant etc oil gearbox oil all good and it has not dropped any oil sincei have had i home.. can tell as my rive way is nice and clean..
