Anyone know the correct running water temperature for TT, the oe gauge is about half but the aftermarket gauge is around 85-90 degrees. I'm trying to work out if the rads I have are big enough or I need to rig up one of the fans to run off an ignition fed live so it runs as soon as the engine is started.

this is definately my favourite (read: most hated) topic! i think normal idling temperature is 82. which main radiator do you have?

If your ever running as high as 90 deg, then you got a wee problem some where and wiring up an electric fan to come on from start will slow down how quick the engine warms up, which ain't meant to be that way.

Ideal temp range is 78-82 deg with 80 being pretty much bang on.

Check a few things out to see why your running so hot, timing, thermostat etc.

Oh and i've seen a few of the cheaper branded gauges give shite readings, Yer can't beat the conzult for this.

It's more to do with the fact I run 2 smaller rads because of the single turbo conversion and both the oem fans have gone. It's the first run it's had so need to tweak things a little I think.

Ahh that's right forgot yours was a bit different like :)

Assuming you stil use the viscous one, worth checking a few things are all correct else where first though eh.

If you were to use an electric fan, i'd set it to come on at 85ish deg, that would allow for any variation of your driving that broght cool air into the engine.

yea ant i thaught those rads you had were a bit small tbh,

how did the MOT go after?

The viscous fan is gone, that's why I thought maybe a small electric one running on constant and then another wired the oe fan plug so it comes on when it gets to hot?

There is a post in z related on the mot.

The rads arenet't amazing but there haven't been any leaks, when the fan goes on it stops the temp going up any more but doesn't make it go down so think a second one is needed on the 2nd rad.
