put a deposit on a Zed finally, only to have the dealer call up and say 'someone is here giving us greif, we're going to sell it to them'.

I'm so wound up, this is the third one in my budget that the seller has screwed me on in one way or another, and I'm running out of time for a car so may have to get something else. totalyl gutted / annoyed beyond beleif!! couldn't of happened on a worse day either, I came in 3 hours early to work so I could go collect it, arranged the insurance etc, only to have to get the bus back home, £100 down until it re-appears in my account, £100 down in train tickets over the three different cars, and god knows how much down for commuting to work :headvswal

I was literally writing this post to ask for a couple of pointers when he called!

/rant over!

yeah will just have to hold off for a while now I suppose.. just typical though lol The salt in the wound is that I came in for between 5 and 6 am after a 4am sleep. I must be cranky!

Sounds like he was offered more money, but if you left a deposit he should honour your agreement. Name and shame.

Paul

i thought the whole idea of putting down a deposit is that your use that to 'Secure' the car!

Be it if somebody has gone to to complain he should have turned around and said a Deposit has been taking it is Provisionally Sold..... How have you let him get away with this??

I would be asking for train fare and lost time.....You put a deposit down, if you changed your mind about buying it he wouldn't be happy and would have kept your £100

havent been able to do anything about it really - couldn't have a shouting match being I'm at work! I think I may well tell him I want my travel back at the least but I can see what they'd say about that!

What is your budget then? must be 4k plus to buying from a dealer. I dose sound like a blessing, if he can go back on a deposit i am sure that he wont be helping you if it has a problem.

I was thinking the same thing...........

.......I would hassle the dealer for payment of your train fares as well though - after all you agreed a price and paid a deposit; thus entered into a contract to buy the car. Sue enough, had you found a better Z elsewhere, the dealer would not refund your deposit.

Get your money back and whatever else you can, then look elsewhere. As Si says above, there are a couple of nice ones for sale on here at the mo. What's your budget?

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

did you get A receipt for the depoist as part payment. as this is a written acknowledgement that a specified article or sum of money has been received as an exchange for goods or services. The receipt acts as the title to the property obtained in the exchange. Hope this helps

You thought about looking on here for one?

yup, been keeping a keen eye out but nothing's dropped low enough really..

It was 4k but now is probably under half that to be brutally honest which is why I'm struggling to find anything in a turbo understandably.. found a good price on a good condition toyota soarer 2.5TT, so thinking of going for that until I have a good amount to spend on a well sorted ZX now, unless something pops up that's worth a bit of a punt / in need of some work before I get to buy it!

Cheers guys, v helpful. I've got my deposit reversed (will take 3 days) and have approached him about my costs etc. I do have a receipt actually, will enclose a photocopy of it with the letter/email requesting the travel (moreso out of principle than anything!)

Will let you know how I get on..

the car was taking in P/X at a dealership where they tend to deal in bmw's and the like

hello mate i just brought my z last wednesday fu@kIng love it but before then i had seen a few shunters which peed me off ,all of them where owned by boy racers and the cars were in really bad nik, then i rang up this old bloke who had a uk one in red went to look at it and bought it nice and easy ,basicly if you will allow me to say that to be honest if something is to much agro its proberbly better to wait like i did and the right one will turn up for you i had to wait 4 months most dealers are tossres any way ..good luck any way mate.

Did you have any paper work mate.

nope no paperwork for the car.. I'd name the dealer if I could remember! I'll have to check my email at work.. A place in Croydon. It's funny, I've been through about 11 cars in the last 2 and a half years, and the only times I've had any problems (with either the cars, or buying the cars) is through dealers! Won't be using another one to be honest, I just don't trust the majority of em!

It's frustrating because I've passed up a few bargains in the meantime waiting around for one the cars that has fallen through! the budget has taken a hit of a few hundred for travel and the deposit, plus I've had to splash out for an extra week of tickets to/from work (£30 a day!!) so I've decided to jump on a Toyota Soarer Twin turbo for now which I'm hoping to collect on the weekend. Prices are very low on them at the mo! They're pretty pacey if not as quick and as drivalbe as the ZX. Plan is to keep it until I can get a good zed which should be between a month and three, so it's not all lost :D

and you're all right - it's probably a blessing in disguise, if they were this trustworthy with a simple deposit, I would have had lots of fun when the gearbox went on the way home or something! (been there before!)

lol I dont see many, but I see more than I do ZX's! it should be a nice enough ride, looking forward to it! the hardest bit is going to be keeping myself from modding it so that I have money for the 300!

It has the supra lump in it, so at least it's something I'm a bit familar with too - it should keep my happy until I change for the 300 :)
