hi,

im looking to get my first 300zx, im after a swb, manual TT, id like a 1994, but dont know much about them,

i currently have an s13 200sx, which leaves 300zx behind off the line, but its too slow up top,

could anyone tell me what to look out for when getting a zx

any common faults?

things to check when buying,

Welcome

The SWB's are Import only. Most Z's are 91-92 , and they produced less for each year until end of production (1989-2000). There are later models out there, its just harder to find them.

The SWB was available as targa or Slicktop (normal roof). The Slicktop being a lighter and stiffer shell, but without the luxury of a removal roof. The Slicktop is a rare model though with 90% of SWB's being Targa.

The buying guide above is a good place to start, I would highly recommend testing several Z's before choosing one. There are a lot of bad examples out there, and there is a big difference in the driving experience of a good, average and bad example.

Must be quite a highly modified S13 you have ?

well my s13 has 390bhp, and weighs in at 1100kg 17psi form a T3 turbo, its seriosly fast, its 5 speed is not great at all, the car max speed is 145mph, (has been on an autobahn run) but after about 70-80 it started to lose its acceleration,

thanks ill take a look at the buyiers guide, and to be fair the 300zx is a so much better looking car then the s13, and the s13 is soooo unreliable it spends half its life broken down...:headvswal
