"Six days to go until Sunday nights get good again – and here’s another exclusive Mole preview. The

premise behind this film is simple – the producers sent Jeremy, Richard and James out to buy a proper

sports car for less than £1,500 (1,500.00 GBP = 2,456.95 USD) and packed them off to France for a

road trip. Sounds rather agreeable, but there were a couple of catches – the finish line was in the

Alps and the final challenge was an Andros Trophy-style ice race. And by ‘proper sports car’ they

meant rear-wheel drive – so the boys basically end up racing three knackered old coupes against

snorting, snarling, lightweight four-wheel-drive, four-wheel-steer, purpose-built rally machines. One of

them, The Mole can reveal, doesn’t quite make it…"

"Today (Thursday) saw BBC's Top Gear team, Jeremy Clarkson,

Richard Hammond and James Mayes take to the Ice Driving

Circuit in Val Thorens for a spot of filming, in whiteout

conditions.

After countless delays, waiting for a window in the storm, the

men finally took to the track. With one car off the road due

to engine trouble, only two of the boys were racing, and we

have to say.....it wasn’t that exciting.

Earlier on, they had been out in Andros Trophee cars, usually

piloted by drivers such as Alain Prost, with professional

drivers acting as co drivers to give the chaps some directions.

This was followed by several laps with the boys driving on

their own and then they took out their own cars, a Porche and

Mazda (we think!)

Unfortunately, due to the adverse weather conditions, it

wasn’t that exciting to watch. It was much more fun seeing

the car that didn’t start being towed off by the Gendarmerie into a wall....."

cannot wait. it will be a laugh

What to see our cars devalued and abused more? IMO, not looking forward to it.

Coundnt give a monkeys nuts what others think tbh, it is all done for a laugh as it will be a sh1tter.

Now with our cars it will become the survival of the fittest and will soon be classics:hyper:

Not really. Suddenly everyone will be expecting to have one for peaunts. Half the fun of ownership is people looking and staring and not knowing what it is. Won't be like that anymore, it'll be 'you own a shitty old crap car'.

But they are shitty and old cars

dont let it worry you. look at the zx in the pic

I am pretty conscious of the car's image. Just don't like seeing it in that setting TBH.

I'll try not to sound too selfish here, and of course I would put this as diplomatically as possible when approaching the current owner of any Z I'm looking to buy.

But I'm thinking, "isn't that one of those shit boxes off Top Gear" may get a bag of sand knocked off:D

Of course this will come back to bite me in the arse when i come to sell it again:cry:

I do agree however, look what Alan partgidge did for lexus:o

They are smashing an evo 7 to bits as well so i wouldnt worry too much... To be fair, its about time they used one and people arnt stupid, the 6 series they useda few series ago isnt a bad car, just hammond bought one that only ran on 5 cylinders! Same with the old porsches, i had a look just the other day to see if i could find anything like they had for the same money and i couldnt, so theyve gone up in value. raising awareness of the car cant be a bad thing can it :)

Besides it'll be good to watch!

I don't think i'll be taking it seriously, same as everything TG does. Its only dickin about and having fun at the end of the day. Most of the time they come to the conclusion that if you've got peanuts to spend you'll get a shitter, and it does'nt really effect the price of good ones.

At the end of the day, unless everyone decides to advertise their shitters for £1500 in one go then prices really aint gonna tumble all of a sudden. Mind you they can't really get any lower then what they are at now lol.

Give it another 10 years and the well looked after examples will be worth alot of money, there are too many around and they are very expensive to maintain to make them a worthwhile investment car.

I don't think what top gear are doing is a bad thing any publicity is good publicity in my opinion, we know we have something special above the normal run of the mill car and thats all that matters.

I cant see the harm, at least it gets its profile up. Just hope it aint the Z that doesn't make it.

the fact that a 300ZX outran a 350Z in a earlier top gear feature didn't have a (positive) effect on the value of the Zed either, so I doubt this feature will have any effect...

It'll probably be a laugh as we all know how well a Zed can be driven in snow/ice :D

If anything watching top gear rag old coupes about has always inspired me to go and buy one so i don't think it's going to have ANY bad affect and actually increase people's awareness of them!

whats the betting the TG zed they buy has got +++400hp and forged internals like all other ebay specials :D

theres nothing more exotic than a porche 928 and you can pick these up for £1500 but look at another ad for the same car, spec, and year and it could cost 6-7k because its NOT a shitter so its not stressing me out:)

I will be cringing all the way through this. Lets hope that they are positive about the ZX.

Must agree with Si though, rather the car wasn't spot lighted in this way... a 1500 quid banger coupe.

The 5th gear feature using the 300zx as a cheap alternative to a Lambo LP640 is more like it!

IMO.

i wouldnt worry about the image as long as you aint got a standard looking red zed!!!!!!!!!:nelson:

dan.:o;):D

So it looks like the 300zx made it round the track, as there is a shot of it sliding! So its not the one with engine trouble LOL

Yeah agree with si

Lad i know of bought an auto z32 for 800 quid, he lives round the corner from me. I know his brother so I went round to have a look. He was on about doing it up etc so I said come on the forum, loads of great help. Saw him again a couple of weeks later and asked him if he had registered. He said no he isnt into all the forum crap, just bought the car to thrash it.

Needless to say he has since wrote it off.

Annoyed me that someone in the same town as me was driving a shitter and didnt give a monkies!
