can anyone help please i have put a set of stage2 technics turbos on my car, they were used when i got them so sent them off to universal turbos and had them rebuilt, i have put them on and every now and then get a big puff of blue smoke when i accelerate hard or hold it at around 2000 revs in neutral it starts pouring out but only sometimes, my oil pressure when start from cold its between 60 and 120 psi but once warm its on the 0, i put 10w 30 oil in it halfords own make could the oil be the problem cause with old oil i had in it never seemed to be that low thank you

Have you replaced your PCV valves?

It sounds like you may have another unrelated problem such as PCV valves, valve stem seals as blue indicates oil being burnt. The PCV valve change is your best bet first and see what it's like afterwards. The valve sten seals will require heads off and thats a whole new ball game.

You haven't put the correct weight oil in the engine so it would be best to change that , it is common for oil from the old turbos to accumulate in the exhaust and when the engine and exhaust gets warm the oil soaked into the exhaust starts smoking!

maybe your intercoolers are contaminated with oil .

does any1 know what would be the best oil grade to buy its also a bit tappey on start but then goes

silkolene 5 40w recommended by the oil man himself :)

I'd agree - firstly it will take a good long run for all the old accumulated oil to burn away.

 

Secondly a "30" grade oil is too thin for a 300zx TT. The high engine temperatures dictate that a "40" grade is necessry for a stock engine; rising to "50" or even "60" for a highly tuned example.

 

Get rid of the 10w30 and replace with 5w40 or 10w40 fully synthetic of a high quality.
