Scouring some ads again as I have been for years now and ZX's seem to vary quite a lot in terms of prices.

Traders seem to be offering some models cheap and again so do Private owners....and then again similar age/spec models are being sold for much greater amounts by both parties again.

Of course I'm aware it maybe down to quality/service history etc etc etc......it's just setting a bench mark for a decent model which is the key thing to me.

I've been into Jap cars for a long time now and have owned many models across the range but quite fancy a ZX tt now. I have looked for models over the years but have always gone for a more constrained option.

Now I can afford to be a little less constrained (so to speak).

I saw some modles today I liked...but sadly the market for Toyota MR2's isn't that great either....and that's what I have now.

So a private ad for it's sale or a PX (but not a dealer PX) seems the way forward.

I'm not in a rush to buy as I need to wait 2 months (valuable researching time) so time is on my side.

Sorry to ramble on in my first post.:nelson::wack:

The biggest price difference is probably between the difference in models.

Hardtops and convertibles demand the highest prices compared to targa tops as do

Manuals compared with autos.

Twin turbos are always more expensive than Non turbos too.

Condition and upgrades (as in engine rebuilds/widebody kits) tend to demand higher prices too.

But there are alot of, for lack of a better word, shitters out there so be vary wary when buying of the common problems that the z32's suffer from. Check out the buyers guide for a better idea

Welcome to the Club Steve :)

Prices do tend to vary alot as some people value their cars at more than others.......some think they are worth more than they actually are.......some try their arm at a higher price....etc.....The list is endless really - its the same reasons for most cars for sale really.

Good thing is you have joined here tho, we can always give our opinion on whether the ones you're looking at is a good buy etc...... :)

Cheers for the warm welcome chaps.

I do know from last time that these models get hot under the bonnet so making sure it's well ventilated, timing belts and water pumps are changed and turbo's run good as these cost a lot.

Some very nice models on here from what I have seen too.

Keeping the eyes peeled!

Thing with the ZX is, there are so many variables to consider. Crap ones (and there are a huge amount of sheds out there) drag the overall prices down and autos can seem considerably cheaper....NAs even more so. TT manuals hold their prices better and tidy ones still fetch reasonable value.

Last time I looked on Autotrader, I couldn't see a manual TT for less than about £4k!

Welcome and good luck in the search. :)

welcome to the club mate and good luck in your search. id normally say never go for the first one you see but it looks like youre experienced enough to know that already :D

Its all about condition condition condition mate.

Paint not great = crap price

Engine noise = crap price

Any rust = crap price

Inside looking worn = crap price

cheap looking fitted parts = crap price

Any smoke = crap price

All of the above are the main reasons for the cheap ones, if you can find one with none of the above you will pay £3.5k+ as it will be a looked after car.

Good luck and happy hunting, ask on here if you see one you like, we will tell you anything we spot you may not.
