Everywhere I go, people always ask Why I bought the 300zx!.. It really irritates me. Every car show I have been to, their's hardly any 300zx's there..

The cars which get the most praise which really boils my piss are the Supra's and the Odd Skyline...

My 3 best friends have jap cars, One has a Supra, one has a GTO and the other an Rx7.. So we are always arguing over who has the best motor.. But, I know the 300zx is the best of the 3 in every way, and I know I am going to sound biased as I own one, but still...

The Rx7 with it's wacky engine.. and cramped interior doesn't do it for me..

The Supra is a good car but I still feel that fast and the furious done it the world of good, boosting up prices and popularity, just like the Rx7 for that matter.

The GTO, just looks like an MR2 on steroids, and is technically a dodge stealth..

For me, the 300zx has the nicest styling (Exterior and Interior), and thus being further complimented by lamborghini even taking the headlight design into it's diablos..

The Interior is far nicer than any GTO/Supra/Rx7, roomier, better feeling, and passengers have more comfort.. albeit the rear seats are cramped.. but nowhere near as bad as the other 3.

I'm no expert when it comes to Engines, but I reckon the VG30DETT is far superior in terms of strength to the other 3.

Anyways, my gripe is that the 300zx is such a great car, and a Classic, but the other cars of the same "league" and "generation" The supras, gtos and Rx7s.. just seem to get more praise?.. When they are no where near as good and dont offer the same standards as the ZX... What happened for the 300zx to never get asmuch hype as the others?... Back to what I said earlier about car shows, nobody seems to know much about the ZX either, people always ask me "How Fast is it" and "You don't see many of these around"..

I hope the put a ZX in the next fast and furious movie, because I can guarantee everyone will want one and our re-sale prices if we ever chose to sell will rocket up... But I can't see it happening...

Those who diss the 300zx are simply ignorant... As someone used to say "Fact"... ;-)

In the same way that the 240z moved things on in 1969 (I think), the 300zx moved things on in 1989 - big time... It's a design classic, fantastic looks, superb comfort, effortless performance - that's why it was car & driver best sports car for many years in the US, tell the doubters to try a good one.

It started the rush of new wave Japanese supercars - it's the original, not a second-rate pastiche.

Forget the GTO (overstyled), RX-7 (Overcomplicated) and Supra (Over-Hyped) - when I first saw a Z32 it changed my life and started a long obsession that's ended in owning 5 of 'em...!

I'd also like to add for the benefit of the tape, that I now own a Skyline (dodges rotting fruit), GT-R34 v-spec... And i have to say, I love it. But it's a different car to the Z32 and in some areas inferior - you have to pull a lever to adjust the seat FFS! Plus it's as uncomfortable as a hair shirt - not designed to ooze down the street like a 300... No t-bar either... Arse.

Celebrate all sporting Nissans, that's what I say - and tell your mates who's leading the pack now with the new GTR... Is it Toyota or Mazda - don't think so!!

Bloody good thing this lager....

CheerZ,

JB.

well said John.

The zed paved the way for high powered, sleek Japanese supercars at the time and as aforementioned, was the original before supras, RX etc. with the exception to the first GTR's but again, slightly different target market.

When i had my other cars, i still wanted to buy a zed so bad, dispite my car being faster and worth many times over the zed. it was like an odd obsession.

I bought my zed because of the way it made me feel, like the school boy with the pic of a supercar on his bedroom wall, the way it looked and drove.

im sure thats some of the reasons why some bought there zeds too and its why im not surprised to see one of my nabours with a 90k Porsche 997, F430, and still a 91 300zx sitting along the driveway.

I have long thought "what if" about the Z.

Like what if nissan had decided to develop it instead of the skyline?

I think a 300kg lighter 330bhp 4wd Z would have been kind of cool. Its also naturally better aerodynamically and has a flatter footprint.

I always think nissan missed a trick there.
