well the one im looking at has 145000 on it. do you think it would do another 50000?

Read what Jason has said. It all depends on how well it's been looked after as with everything.

There are cars on the US forums running 300,000 with original turbos. Yet, other cars, some over here are having engines pulled at 50k. All depends on how it was looked after and what condition it's in. If you're concerned, do a compression check to make sure the internals are still good. Then check to see what boost you're running. See if the turbos are boosting well and are not smokey.

There is absolutely no point in anyone saying, 'at 145k, does it still have 50k life left on it' if you don't know the history or condition.

Mine is currently on around 112,000 mls , but engine runs fine as said depends on how it's been looked after ,

mine came with a bit of history and i do regular oil changes also think i'd like the engine rebuilt in the end though

One of my original turbos went at about 140k but the engine is otherwise sound. If its not used for months the first start will sound clattery and you can find a noisy hydraulic cam follower but let it warm up properly or give it a drive and within 20 minutes it can tickover smoothly and quietly with no noises. Well maintained and not overly thrashed these engines can do huge mileages. Turbos seem to last from 80 - 150k miles.
