shit/drab/mundane cars with expensive/private plates.

Noticed a few lately. Tatty old Citroen BX estate yesterday with something like 21H. Also a Skoda Favorit with something like M1 JCM. Both cars being only worth about 50p with plates that make them worth a lot more! The plate on the BX must have been worth something in the tens of thousands.

I use to see a Rover 400 with something similar.

Now I like private plates, but could never have one on my car that was worth more than the car it was on, unless you're talking mega value cars with even more mega-value plates.

there is a guy near me who has, i think, 80SS made to look like BOSS which apparently cost £125k however it is on a Bentley worth around the same lol.

Where I live there is a Proton shitheap that hasnt even got matching alloys and a different colour bonnet with the number plate 1 DT. I offered him £500 for the car and he said, "Yeah sure, let me just get the plate off and its yours!" I went from exstatic to depressed in the space of 9 words lol.

Back in the day when I did 'asset recovery' we had a Merc SEC500 with F1GHT on it. Sadly for the guy the court said it was part of the car so he couldn't have it back........

I know what you mean Si.....

.......about 10 years ago I saw a beaten up old yellow Chevette with RFS (my initials) and 3 numbers but no age related prefix or suffix. I waited for the old boy who owned it to return and offered him £500 for his car; which was only worth buttons, but he turned it down:rolleyes:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I sold a 96 volvo 850 estate not so long ago and both him and his missus drove round in owd 850 estates with plates worth a friggin fortune! They came from her parents or grandparents who owned factories and drove round in Bentleys but never sold the plates. So these people keep them more for sentimental reasons but have them on essentially shitty cars lol.

Each to their own lol.

theres an old golf round here with 5L or similar on it, the car must be worth £500!!

i'm still after a private plate K1 RBS its on a volvo 240 or 940 southampton way, i wrote to the dvla asking to pass on a letter asking to buy it but they refused :( theres also K11 RBS which is on a audi a3

Its cheaper to keep them on a car than put them on retention every year.

The vehicle has to have an MOT to enable you to transfer to another vehicle.

There are lots of very expensive plates on vehicles with no mot and far beyond economical repair !
